Iam currently researching web design companies and by recommendation I have been told about Frooition - Anyone had any personal experiences of Frooition???

The next step will be to move into the pay per click arena so i need a web design that is friendly to PPC...

Cheers all

I have also never heard of them but as said make sure they know exactly what you want - it can be very frustrating at times when your given alot of freedom and then the client turns around to say 'well i didnt want it like this'. Then your sat there thinking 'well you didnt tell me what you wanted - i had to assume'.

Didnt mean to rant...sorry:)

they produce very nice swish ebay shopfronts - not sure about linking this through to your own websites but nonetheless i believe they are the de facto choice if you want a nice looking site within ebay.. not sure whether this is proven to provide additional revenues..

Frooition have been very successful with their eBay designs and are branching out into websites and PPC management.

I see them a graphic design-led company rather than development/programming-led.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I would spend time talking about the functionality and extensibility of the eCommerce sites they build. Ask what platform they use, what payment processors are supported, does it have marketing features like product suggestions and wish lists?

Spend plenty of time on the sites they have built in the past, right through to just before making payment - did you like the experience? Get to speak to some past clients.

You can't do too much research before taking the plunge!

Friendly to PPC means optimized landing pages. People using a PPC advert want to land on a page that meets their requirements. This can often mean you need to build a specific page for each ad campaign or at the very least make sure your existing pages work as landing pages.

It really depends on the aim of the site and your prospective clients as to whether you choose frooition or not.

It may be that you could get away with a targetted brochure site in which case frootition is not the best choice.

We bought the web and ebay shop from Frooition - design is good and expensive but everything alse is primitive. There is not much options to play around. Many things you must do through Frooition and to get something done takes ages. After sale support is zero. There is many much better/cheaper options. We all ready working with as new web shop and we planning to leave Frooition asap.

Hi Secure Systems

One of my existing customers have had a solution from Frooition and wasn't very happy with the service he got - I won't say too much on here as I don't believe in bad-mouthing other companies but am more than willing to put you in-touch with the customer so you can find out first-hand.

I'm more than happy to help out with any queries and may even be able to help you with our project requirements.

Best regards

Darren

Frooition charge £800 for a design, £15 a month Hosting AND £15 a month for support.

That seems awfully expensive, id to make my ebay shop look better, but at £30 a month with £800 upfront, way to expensive.

Anyone got any ideas on alternatives ????

I have used http://www.betheliza.co.uk/

I only got a product template done to test the water as wasn't sure ebay was right for our products. Template cost ~£40 and everything is emailed through with instructions on how to host on you own server so no ongoing costs.

If ebay worked out for us I would use them again to do the complete shop template. Mine is a very simple template but it is just what I was looking for. You get to revise and change the design and only pay when you are happy.

Where do I start with how bad my experience has been?

I bought a £1050 inc VAT Ebay shop and same price website in October 2008. After being given a lead time of around six weeks I finally got my eBay shop working in January 2009. Well it sort of works. Due to "technical" reasons I am unable to use pictures stored on my hard drive. I have to use Picasa and resize them store them on the hard drive, then upload them onto Photobucket and then attach them to each Turbo lister listing! This was supposed to speed up my listing time???? :|

When the shop fianlly went live it did not work. I followed the online help section to add my listings and they didn't work. When I contacted Frooition for help I was suitably patronised as being a novice with computers I must have been doing it wrong. When they found out the instructions did not actually work and could not be followed I finally got some help. It took nearly three weeks to solve this.

After sales has been beyond bad. I have sent countless e-mails mostly with no response. Phone calls have been passed around the company with no one seeming able to take responsibility. I have been billed for things that are included in my package, after I contacted Frooition to check they were included, they were. I was then billed again.

I has my website complete just after my eBay shop but it is still not working. I am unable to list any items in it and therefore have not paid the rest of invoice as I only have half a package.

My e-mail does not work as Frooition have not connected it up. So far I have had three confirmations from then it will be sorted and I am still waiting.

I cannot believe how something that looks so good can be so bad. The shops look lovely but as a company I cannot recommend then in ANY way other than Andrew is an excellent designer and very on the ball.

If you are thinking of using them DON'T. I will be looking for another solution as soon as I can.

Thankfully I have only six more days before my subscription expires and I move to another supplier.
They have been a disaster from start to finish. When things go wrong with their software you can raise a ticket which may or may not receive a reply and if it does it certainly won't be quick. If you want to have a quick reply it is only £199.00 plus VAT an hour for help on how to resolve problems with their own software! oh and just to make it even better you have to pay for at least an hour in advance.

I really thought when I started that they would be an excellent solution for my growing Ebay business but they have been a terribly expensive mistake.

Their business is growing at a rate of knots but at the expense of any form of customer care if they manage to keep customers with them for any length of time I will be quite surprised.

How many times have we heard comments like this.... alot of our customers are old froo savvys and all agree that their support and pricing is a complete joke and that is why they now reside under our Dascs eBay tree.

We had an ebay storefront designed by Frooition and it has been the worst mistake (and one of the most expensive) we ever made!
The site doesnt function properly and the customer service support is non existent unless you are willing to pay £149 per hour!!
Just using the conventional ebay template is a better option: I cannot imagine that Frooition are going to be in business much longer so it would be a very bad idea to employ them to design your store: just google them and you will see how disappointed their customers are.

I'd have to withdraw my recommendation I posted earlier in the thread (February). They've imposed new customer service charges which, in my opinion, are appauling. Also, since recent eBay changes the some of the design work has had to be scrapped, so you aren't getting the full designs you did before the changes.

I had to resurrect this thread, about 5 months ago we got frooition to design a website for us, we had a specific list of requirements that needed to be met - we were told all of this could be done and got a quote.

We paid half the money up front in an agreement that the other half would be paid on completion, a few weeks in and we had the design of our front site and it looked good, we then tried to check again that our list of requirements could be met and were told that they couldn't be done, despite them confirming it was all possible.

We immediately asked for a refund and were told it would be given, a few weeks later and still no refund we phoned frooition only for them to say that they had a new type of asp.net e-commerce package available that would meet our requirements and we could have it at the same price.

A week passed and we phoned to check that everything was going ok, frooition told us they had made an exclusive agreement that meant they could no longer design or host our website.

I would not suggest using frooition.

Yes, all my listings were messed up last night. Store was fine earlier today but is now not showing properly as well. Then I looked through other sellers items and stores that use Frooition and they were down as well...seems like a global issue they are not solving. I am debating about finally stopping their service as it is costing thousands today!

I need to resurrect this thread because it is one of very few places I can find where Frooition are being discussed openly! I have a client who wants an ebay store template applied with the funky gallery backgrounds.

Seeing as these guys have such a poor write-up, and my client already has a template, does anyone know where to find some decent tutorials on creating the magic scripts to fully implement a custom store front?

sorting out the CSS for ebay is no easy task and no one is going to give it away free, which is why frooition charge so much, if you search this forum with frooition there are a number of other people offering a similar service no idea if they are still running though
