Your Claim to Fame

Î was chatting with some friends the other day and we started talking about our Claim to Fame. It was quite interesting to see just how close we can rub shoulders with celebs or close we came to actually becoming a celeb.

Before I post my stories how's about hearing some of yours. What's your Claim to Fame???

i used to work in a store on oxford street, on the kitchen dept, and i was approached by Paul Whitehouse (the fast show) and we had a chat about kitchens etc.

i also designed & sold a kitchen to jonathon wilkes (robbie williams mate).

on tuesday nights i have an evening job, and this week i delivered something to Peter Gabriels house.

and an ex work colleague and good friend of mine has recently finished Michael Palin's kitchen.

hhhmmmm some interesting stories.

When I came back from OZ an ex girlfriend of mine met me at heathrow airport with her sister Emma. Emma worked as a PA for Elle McPherson and they drove to the airport in Elle's Jeep. When they met me they were still very hung over from the night before so they didn't want to drive back into the manic streets of London so I offered. I was busting to get into Elle's seat lol. Anyway we drove back to Elle's house but sadly she was out of the country. I was taken on a tour around her Kensington pad and even went into her bedroom. Let me tell you she is a very messy person. I saw some pictures of when she was pregnant that hadn't been released to the media (apparently she done a photo shot but only a few got selected) and the rest is history. Would have been even more great if she was there though huh.

Not fantastic but... I was in a marquee next door to a marquee where Prince Andrew was having dinner (he was guest of honour at our airshow). I also met Kriss Akabusi (runner with annoying laugh).

My best mate had to throw an olympic silver medalist out of a night club in Devon.

My girlfriend used to be know Coleen back when she was a nipper (her aunty has a photo of them at a birthday party together)

just thought of another (sorry!):

i was out in Brighton with some friends, walking along this street, and saw this homeless guy sat outside a grocery shop.

Then out of the door pops Chris Eubank with a bag of food for this homeless guy! He walked in front of us and i said hi - he was very pleasant! We did ask him to join us at the party we were going to but it didnt work! He hopped in his jeep and drove off.

Been bought dinner by Raymond Blanc, my aunt is a "used to be famous" actress and met countless celebs at her wedding many years back.
Have met Kriss Akabusi many times and done some work for him on his website. I've also done work for Lord Tavistock on various parts of the Woburn estate.

All that aside, I'm what you could call a minor celeb in the Northamptonshire area and am in the papers frequently, been on radio a view times and TV appearance coming soon. I've just got off the phone from a local paper wanting a quote from me on Syed :)

I've spoken to an angry Krankie on the phone Fandabidozi.

And was in a big advertising campaign for Milton Keynes

And met the extremely minor celebrities Dom and Carrie off of the Radio 1 Breakfast show when we got our World Record last year.

And got a Organic Pear juice out of the fridge for Nicola Appleby and her Prodigy boyfriend when at my mums without even knowing. (my niece was a quivering jelly)

Also - Chris Evans in Camdon market carrying a 4 foot Homepride figure under his arm!

I know Mark Lawson off the Friday review on News Night, not best mates, like, but he came to my 40th with his wife who is a v. good friend and used to edit part of the telegraph.

Lots of our clients are famous Casual+y, Hollyoaks, Haymarket Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Co, Damien Hirst, the Krankies (as mentioned) Dick and Dom, Pimp My Ride, etc etc

I was on Radio 1 Chris Moyles show when we did the whoopee cushion.

I'm married to the famous TopHat.

I met Johnny Morris (Animal Magic)- he was a friend of my Dad's - he's been to our house, Johnny I mean, dead now of course, great loss.

Going back to the Whoopee Cushion I spent a whole day at the Blue Peter Studios meeting all the presenters at the time last April and better still Dr Who, that was, Christopher Eccelstone and I played in the BP garden with the BP dogs. Fantastic. Then the cushion sprung a leak and it wasn't on - my biggest disappointment. Got a badge though and No, I'm not selling.

My kids go to school with Jo Whiley's (Radio 1 lunchtime DJ) so I sometimes meet her at events.

But I don't want to be famous - it must absolutely suck. I'd rather be rich.

Just remembered, my nephew is going to be famous, there is not a shadow of doubt in my mind.

He is only 12 but has been up for parts in the west end prod. of Billy Elliot and is being called back in 6 months, he has just starred as Mowgli in a Stevenage prod. of Jungle Book and I just know he is going to be famous.

Remember his name, (FAME!), Dominic Creasey.

My photo has appeared on the front page of The Times

Wandered down to the newsagents one day and was just scanning the papers, not really looking - did a double take and thought "I know that photo"!

It was a group photo of the cast of the operetta group I was in with Iain Duncan Smith (the local MP) at the time he was being hounded from office. Luckily I was tucked at the back as I was wearing a VERY silly hat and dodgy glasses. Nobody I know could recognise me without it being pointed out with the help of a magnifying glass.

PS: didn't actually talk to IDS.........

I have sold England and Arsenal footballer Ashley Cole a car.

I have Phone david beckham, only to find out he has a buying/fleet management executive who runs his massive fleet of cars.

I saw ronald Mcdonald doing a TV commercial in LA last december.
    Along with numerous stars homes.

I have chased Nicolas Cage whilst in a tour bus. We didn't keep up, he was in one of his many ferrari's

erm, well I ran DLT over in our local supermarket with my shopping trolley once, crossed the road to avoid Rowan Atkinson, sat gobsmacked back in the early 80's talking to Graham Souness and Kenny Dalgleish back in the glory days of LFC, met and held countless olympic and gold medals from our top cyclists, even got my daughters autograph (well she will be a top class cyclist soon), used to babysit for Alex Lindsay, yes showing my age off now and got paid one week with his Charity Shield Medal ... my dad made me give it back, oh yes and I have a famous godfather who is unfortunately dead but came from Liverpool and liked his guitars a lot, and also spent time with the rest of his band as a young child (and no aint naming him as its the ultimate in name dropping) .... god I feel old now!!

Not mine, but you might like it,

A Friend of mine wouldn't watch the apprentice at first and it turned out she had tried to sell Sir Alan something 15 years ago and he had made mincemeat of her, leaving her, to this day, in terror of ever having to be alone in a boardroom with him.

Just thought of some more people I've met... ex-big brother presenter shortly before he got thrown out of the club I worked at for doing something very naughty. The short one from Take That who the doorstaff refused entry to. Lots of comedians as we used to have a comedy night. And loads of top DJ's - Judge Jules, Boy George, Lisa Pin-up, Lisa Lashes, Steve Thomas - I could go on.

David Beckham used to go into a sun bed shop my friend owned when he was only known for being with a spice girl and yes my friend said he is even more drop dead gorgeous in real life!

My ex bosses met the same person in a Manchester hotel and he was lovely, apparently a guy asked him if he would have his pic taken with his wife and he agreed but the said lady was in the loo and he waited for her...bless!

Not quite fame but have met Tony Blair and had a photo taken with him and dined with Lord Snowdon in the Houses of Parliament. John Prescott walked passed after my meal. Also personally met Gordon Brown and Margaret Beckett at Labour Party Dinner.

Received an original autographed photo of Sir Richard Branson for my 21st birthday.

Have appeared on a BBC programme and may be interviewed again for an appearance in June.

    I've been ignored by Superman.

In the seventies I was a huge SF fan and used to contribute cartoons to fanzines. In 1979, I was nominated for a Hugo award (the SF equivalent of the Oscar) for my cartooning, to be presented at the world Sf convention that year in Brighton.

I was sitting in the front row waiting for the ceremony to begin when I noticed a lot of photographers were aiming their cameras in my direction. I turned to the person on my right and found it was christopher Reeve, nominated that year for "Superman". I hunted through my pockets for a piece of paper and asked for his autograph. He waved me off and said 'Not right now!!" and ignored me for the rest of the evening...
