WP Free Plugins - Adverts

I am developing a few WP/WC plugins and there will be a standard version and some separate premium features.

I wanted to gauge your thoughts on adding in (related) adverts to the standard (free) versions. This version will be pretty much the premium version, with a couple advanced features held back.

I know the first response will be 'no, wouldn't touch it', but, like many things, after the knee jerk or using it a while, would it really bother you if relatively discreet or upfront & dismissable?

Admin only.

I never thought about the front end.........

The ads would be in line with the plugin audience.

Wow, I am always in the admin panel doing things.

The plugins is actually a business process/activity that the owner/manager will visit regularly.

I am not looking at serving generic AdWords, but specific messages related to the activity on the plugin.

I do promotions on some of my plugins. Usually pointing to other tools I've built.

It's never been a problem and has generated new business.

My initial thought was "oh no, ads on the front end" but considering the ad will only display in the admin area, and only related ads will be shown AND it's dismissible, I do not see a downside.

the ads are only a problem for me if I cant permanently switch them off or at least disable them for a time period.
Not quite sure how this would work with a plugin. Don’t recall seeing any that lets you disable an advert to upgrade or promote another plugin from the same developer. If you only see the advert when accessing the settings page it’s not really that intrusive.

no its true, its no big deal if the ad is only visible in the settings page.
