Land lines are going away, or so I'm told. I like the way mobile phones work. Is this a sensible change. Can I keep my existing land line number and attach it to a mobile? Any advice?

You should be able to port your landline number to a VOIP SIP line. You can then use VOIP phones, apps, or divert to mobile. There are some here who are experts at this

Well, I googled VOIP ans SIP and I don't feel any wiser. Can I have my landline number attached to a mobile phone? If yes, how. What is it likely to cost? So may questions, so few brain cells.
