winding down baby gift store - what next?

I posted this in the ecommerce section ... but think i might have put it in the wrong place!

Over Christmas something happened to my baby products / gifts website. Basically Google marked it as an unsafe site and allthough it still functions perfectly well, anyone trying ot visit it would get a warning come up saying 'this site may har your computer' I was crushed! Basically it rendered my site useless (as n o-one would visit) and i ended up calling it a day

My site was built on cs cart (for what it's worth) but to this day i have no idea exactly what went wrong.

Anyway, i digress somewhat. I have closed the store, told inland revenue, in the process of tying up VAT affairs and now i'm left with alot of stock. Does anyone have any suggestions of how i can deal with this? Obviously i am no longer able to officially trade since i am no longer self employed ... so i'm struggling ot see how i can sell my stock.

I welcome comments from anyone who has been in a similar situation or has any suggestions of how best ot deal with this. My house is overrrun and i could do with getting this stuff shifted!!!

Sorry the hear of your issues.

My guess is that you are on a shared server and another site which shares your IP address may be having issues OR you may simply have something nasty on your site!!! A bit late now, but did you speak to you host?

As for now, why can't you continue to sell on a (the same or diffeent) website or ebay? There is nothing stopping you trading! For a quick sale, you could contact one of your competitors, however, selling in bulk will probably mean you will get a fraction of their worth!

Ebay might be the best way. If you make a profit you may have to declare this - and no idea how it would affect VAT!

You need cessation accounts from your accountant, however, you can 'buy' the stock from the company at that 'fraction of the cost' as a private individual; Car boot sales or local paper may be the way to get rid of it? Whatever you CAN'T sell, perhaps you could donate to the local childrens ward/maternity ward or a mother/baby charity?

Presumably you sold the assets to yourself at cessation. If the VAT on assets at cessation is less then £1,000 then the nice VATman does not collect the VAT. You can then sell it on Ebay or car boots etc., then if you have not made a profit, you can keep the money.

When you start the next business, be careful about the website!

As others said ebay it all .. or get in touch with other similar companies and do a special price for the lot..

Ive got the same problem with 1 of my website.
Luckily its a site im not bothered about.

Its so complicated to get it unblocked as you have to go through google. Ive given up as i got that confused by it. Speak to a web tech person, they will be able to sort it out for you. It would be a shame to lose your business because of that.
