I doubt it, they now have the upper hand. Their number is double the Tory majority, and any action against them will result in them voting against Boris in the house. Without their support, Boris is paralysed. Boris should now be more worried that they will vote with the opposition on key votes, making him a powerless lame duck PM. If they do that he could be out in a month or two.
Or, and I can dream, 40 of them crossing the floor and joining an opposition party would wipe out Boris' majority in the house.

I think the better strategy would be to wait until the Tories get annihilated in the 2 by elections in 2 weeks' time, then for the opposition parties to call a vote of no confidence.

The disaffected won't cross the floor as they are disaffected with their leader and not the party itself and they are aware that by crossing the floor they are likely to lose their seats in the forthcoming election.

Similarly if Labour calls for a vote of no confidence the disaffected will vote with the Government as turkeys don't often vote for Christmas

I can't see anyone crossing the floor, Kier works hard to stand for nothing and has no opinion on anything.

What is Labour's policy on anything right now?

Labour should be far ahead in all the polls, Boris is disliked, the economy is dying, and inflation is at 40-year highs - even on the official figures. Labour has made no gains so far this year despite all of this.

The local elections were supposed to be great for Labour, instead, they won a few bits in London and nothing much else.

The tories are trying hard to collapse, but labour is trying even harder not to win.

No it isn't as it isn't Boris that they will be defeating but the Conservative Government which may result in a General Election which the Tories would probably lose at the moment
I think the feeling of most Tory MPs (not just the rebels) will now be they are not going to win any general election with Boris in charge. Be it now or when the next GE is due. They will also be thinking it is better to get rid of him now and get fresh blood in well before the next GE to stand a chance of winning it.

When the rebels start to make it's presence felt more, the Tory party will soon find a quick way of getting rid of him to save themselves and the conservative government. It won't take much either, the rebels will only need to vote down a couple of key votes and it will become crystal clear how powerless he now is.

One path is certain doom at the next GE and the other represents a slim chance at the next GE.

For the first time in my working life I actually believe that the Conservatives should lose the next election; but I'd say it's far from certain that they will - which is a tragic reflection on the opposition.

As a personal view; I believe Boris did as good a job as anyone would have on Brexit and made a decent fist of the bizarre Covid scenario - he was a maveric PM in some very odd times. He is, however, not a natural PM in normal times and should have fallen on his sword before the vote.

His speech today needed to be something special to get the public back on board. The public want/need things to help now. Instead, we got lots of bluster about past "successes" and plans that will take years, possibly decades to bear fruit.

If it was meant to get people onside, it wasn't very successful. I cant see those rebel MPs getting excited by it all.

The promises seemed like the rushed ones you hear at election time - i.e. ones MPs spout only half believing they will be in power and need to implement themselves.
