Why enlarge Heathrow Airport when you can make it smaller?

And your point is?

There are shedloads of aircraft without reverse thrust. But the ones landing at LHR almost always do. If they didn't the runway would have to be twice as long.

My point was merely for information.

OK so if it was not for the reverse thrusters, the runway would have been twice longer. Well my system behaves exactly like reverse thrusters, except it is safer, which means the plane doesn't get backward shocks the same way happens for fighter planes on carriers. Additionally my system should reduce landing distance by at least the distance, which the wheel brake takes to bring the plane to standstill.

Swisaw... Here's my advice. As you can see, we're rather skeptical of your claims and despite everyone trying to inform you otherwise, you keep telling us your system will do this and that. So, if you truly believe in this idea, here's a challenge.

Make it! :) Stop talking about it, and create a prototype to test your claims.

Prove to yourself and everyone else that it can work. Make a scale model of your plans and actually see for yourself.

I don't have resources to make the prototype. Any one looks at the idea with an open mind, can not reject it outright the same way you do. You don't have to make a prototype. Each components of the concept has been put to test and work already in different applications.

I may not to see it in my life time but the system will be used in future as there is no an alternative way to meet the increased demands of air transportation. You can not continue to enlarge airports as air traffic volume increases. You have to stop somewhere and find an alternative means.

It would only cost £50 at B&Q to make a prototype and prove the system could work. Surely that's where the fun is in inventing things?

There are plenty of runways in this country my friend, some not used, some underused, and others reused or turned in to giant car parks, or race tracks.

In the media all you hear about is Heathrow and the other major airports, but others are ripe for development, including Luton, who are hoping to expand and add another runway.

The problem as always is with the NIMBY's who don't want the noise and traffic that airports bring, and the cost for extra infrastructure required to host a main airport.

£50.00!!! Do you really mean it or it is a sort of slip of tongue? Well, I say it will cost something as much as £20.00k. But if you are sure £50.00 is enough I will give a contract for £500.00, five hundred pounds, to make the prototype and ready for test. But as a favour I advice you not to commit yourself to it.

No I mean it you can test the basic principles of this very cheaply. What part do you think is difficult to test?

Have you ever tested anything you've invented on paper? If you've not I suggest you start, because you'll learn a lot more about the actual mechanics. As they say, every inventor needs a shed. :)

I do hope siwsaw didn't invent this idea because he was worried about land running out for airports in the UK :D
