Which website company is best?

Hi, I am looking to start a new business with online selling & local deliveries. I have the domain name registered with 123Reg. Would they be the best to use for the website building & hosting? Someone has recommended Actinic. Any suggestions for a TOTAL novice needing a small (cheap) site to start with the ability to grow as and when required? Thanks!

Best is a subjective world! However, 123Reg, whilst they are fine for domain name purchase, are most certainly not the best for website building and hosting. They are, I suspect, ok, but not the best.

For website building you will find many good suppliers on a forum such as this, but select with care, meet face to face, and be clear as to what you want, and what you are getting.

I will suggest you to go for e-commerce Hosting package as your looking for online selling as well. Best is to start with shared ecommerce Hosting package with SSL offered. You can also go for ecommerce scripts like magento,zencart,cubecart etc.. With our hosting package we offer softaculous where you get one click auto installer for all this script.

You can search for hosting company with Cpanel and softaculous or fantastico to get you started.

Our experience has been a nightmare with them.

Sites with online selling facilities are not straight forward to set up. It may be worth your while to pay a professional rather than spend the many hours it will require to do it yourself.

However, if you are going to set it up yourself I would recommend a website builder such as serif webplus X4 which allows 'drag and drop' style website creation. You build the website locally then upload it to your server. Don't set your hopes too high though - the result will not be particularly professional looking!
