Where to go with this website

Ok this is not my main business it is simply an ongoing project and I am not making any money from it.

Don't think I can post links yet as i'm new here but ill direct you the best I can

These are all owned by myself and they are all very popular domains and searches for it via all search engines come from far and wide.

My question is where could I go from here with it. Other than the usual adsense and commission junction schemes, what other method could I use to make money from this web site?

I live on the grounds of the Shibden Estate and decided to create a site for the hall/park one day whilst I had nothing to do.

Hi General,

For what it's worth - I would suggest the following:

1. Try and see if you can stimulate any interest from prospective buyers who have an interest in the property: owners, local authority, anyonw who can/will generate income from the location and what it has to offer.

2. Advertise the site to third party interests.

3. Rent the sites out. I have done this in the past... check out the following for details on how some sites can generate income via SEO ratings: (domainstoreuk.com)

It is a major tourist attraction in Halifax, West Yorkshire. I have nothing to do personally with the hall or park, this website was just a project I started a while ago whilst I was a bit bored.

I'm just looking for options on how I could make something from it i.e do I sell it? do I advertise on it? if so what are the best options available to me.

Are there any good programmes available within the UK that pays web publishers based on the amount of views a banner advertisement has received, excluding google ad-sense which in my opinion is a little bit useless unless you have 1,000s of visitors per day.

you might be surprised at google adsense. I make more adsense money from a small local site as I run, as I do from bigger sites I have, with thousands of visitors each week.

so you should at least check it out and see if you get any clicks

I've re-integrated adsense into the site now but hate text banners I have opted
for image banners only but still get the bog standard text banners. These make
the site look a bit awful to be honest. Any suggestions?

I think to be honest, the problem is that your site really isn't that suitable for adsense etc. It's a (very nice) site where people go when they want info about the place, its not a site where people spend time reading posts etc. So in that sense its not easy to monetise the actual site itself.

eg i want to go to the zoo, so i go to the zoo website to find some more info/opening times etc. I'm unlikely to cleck an ad on it I guess.

Just my opinion.

I once owned a mis-spelling of Tesco.com that received a lot of traffic that was obviously ment for Tesco but the visitors had typed the letters in the wrong order.

I sold this to tesco when I showed them how much traffic it was getting. You could try that route.

Your adsense is also apallingly blended into your site and in the wrong places to make proper money.

This is a council owned estate, doubt they will want to part with any cash for such a thing. Too many mp's expenses to cover.

What you need to do in my opinion,

Is all the individual tourist shops in that area and services, get them to pay you to be listed on the site with info and pics of there shops etc,

If you have google analytics and can show people there have been visitors to the site, you could probably sequeeze a few grand out of a number of interested parties,

in that case, I would concentrate on getting your adsense positioned and blended correctly. For me, at the moment it stand out so much that I wouldnt even consider clicking on any ads.

You also dont rank that great on google searches especially for 'shibden hall'

wordpress will give you a greater degree of functionaility - give you the option to add lots of features/ ad management etc.

As previous poster has said, you have destroyed the look of your site with those adsense banners, got to even scroll sideways to read the page. I would remove them to be honest. You have detracted from the look of your site
