Just wondering who is the best company to get an 0845 number from? I understand that you can get these free of charge and the profit from the call is split between me and the number provider (I think this is the case).

Obviously the company needs to be reputable as the number will be used in all my marketing and I don't want to end up losing it at some point.

Any recommendations please?

unless you are doing thousands of hours a month, if not 10's of thousands, the revenue sharing system will probably not result in mucj, as the 'management' costs can be high!

The other option is, as Lee said, speak to a company like voipfone and just get a number for a couple quid a month!

I would not use an 0845 number to be honest. There is a new 03 range which is a local call rate number but it has the advantage of being included in "all inclusive" contracts. 0845 are not real local rate numbers as they are more expensive to call that geographical numbers.

We charge £1.99 per month for 0845. We have free 0870 (not recommended) and we can get free 0844 numbers if you really must have a free number.

You're much better advised using a normal geographic number or an 03 as Lee says (although they are much less known about).

i have thought about all these nmbers myself. I run a recruitment agency with the need to show a presence in all the areas that my clients are based and having an 0845 number would be great for not showing my location at a glance.

But what I do, is use Virtual Offices and the services they provide especially tel forwarding. The services are flexible, once I have the clients on board I stop the services and give them my London business numbers (obviously formally)

www.switchboardfree.co.uk does free 0844 numbers and has other features such as voicemail, hold music, customised hold messages etc.

hi, i am steve and i am 15.

here is some advice on 0845 numbers.

dont get a 0845 becuase ofcom may be changing them to you pay half and the caller payys havf the rate, like 0800 / 0845 mix.

i would advice you get 0844 , they are the same as 0845 but theywill always stay that way,
you dont pay anythingfor them and never will. you get a few pence a min.

there is 0871 numbers and you recive about 3.5p a min for them, don't get 0870 ofcom is changing them to free phone.

anyway if you want any of these i can get you some for free.

    thanks

    steve

I use 0845 with all my companies, one of my companies operates Oval Telecom, which provide 0845 numbers for free. Obviously some people don't like 0845 numbers, but 99.99% of people don't have a problem with it.

    www.ovaltelecom.co.uk

Which each company the incoming call is sent to our VoIP server at the office, but in the event of a problem with our VoIP server or the internet, we can switch back to landline instantly using the control panel.
