I curretnly use WordPress / woocom for my ecom business, and it's taken some getting used to, using it for 6 years now. I don't code though and with WP having a technical coding background is an advantage unless you want to pay developers.

I am setting up a new business, it will only need to serve as a brochure, consultancy site for a B2B operation. As well I want it to be low maintenance (which my WP site is not)

I know I don't want to use Wordpress, Shopify is obvioulsy out the question as this new business is not ecom..

I am looking at Squarespace.... Can anyone point me in a different direction? As far as all of the fit for purpose platforms go, Squarespace seems the most robust.

But please advise me if you know any other platforms.

I am not overly sold by the themes on Squarespace.

You think there are SEO advantages to Wordpress over Squarespace and other template builders?
I'd recommend you do your own research and look into the pitfalls but on page load speed alone template builders are generally slow. Look at URL structures, mobile usability, meta information, the ability to add alt text, to name a few problems. They are all different but they all have their own issues.

I've done a lot of research into different CMSs over the years and ConcreteCMS is always one of the best.

You know WP - stay with that.

    Otherwise, I also love Joomla.

@smithster1 - a few things to think about:

    1. WordPress does not need constant or expensive maintenance. Updates can be automated and there are a number of plugins you can install for free that will protect and monitor your site.

    2. A brochure site does not need a developer to set things up. Most hosts include a WordPress installer and there are umpteen free themes you can install. You may need a bit of help configuring things but you don't need a developer for that.

    3. Squarespace is an alternative but it's not free. If you already have hosting there is no additional cost to setting up a WordPress as an add-on domain.

Whilst there are altenratives, WordPress is platform you are familiar with so stick with what you know.
