When it comes to digital marketing, social media marketing agency plays a crucial role. When we talk about social media different social media channels come in our mind like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, etc. The existence of business on the different social media handles plays an important role especially, in today’s competitive world of entrepreneurs.

No it doesn't.

I agree in some cases SM it may be a useful source of traffic but many businesses do very well without tweets, shares or likes.

We buy loads of stuff online and we've never once done this via facebook or instagram.

An agency is bottom of the list of essentials.

I'm in full agreement with @fisicx. The fact of the matter is people browsing social media aren't in a buying mindset and aren't anywhere near as targeted as the traffic you can drive from an effective PPC campaign. I've experimented for years with Facebook Ads with a variety of different strategies and sales funnels, yet I can count on one hand the number of conversions that's ended up getting me.

You can't say social media does not drive sales! It depends on the niche and the campaigns being run.

I did the marketing for a music festival and ALL sales were generated through social channels. SEO/PPC was completely pointless.

I have a YouTube channel and when I feature a product or service it generates sales and sometimes a lot of sales!

It's working out where the audience is, how to approach them and how to engage with them. Social media does work....it's why my twitter and facebook shares have rocketed in value this week ;)

@justinaldridge the OP said an agency is essential. Which suggests you are doing it wrong, you should be using his services.

As you said, SM works really well for the right products and services. But that doesn’t mean it works for everything.

I brought some cat food the other day. I managed to do this without visiting YouTube, Facebook or Instagram.

You and my wife need to keep apart. We have a house full of cat stuff but the moggies prefer a cardboard box full of quavers.

I think Social Media Marketing should be going right next to the paid advertising, some Google Ads and the SEO that is done to your business. It can really sky rocket the sales, but first you need to invest in paid advertising, there is no other way. Oh, and last but not least, it will take time, you have to know that.

Social Media Marketing helps to bring followers and online sales to your website. With the help of social media, you can bring traffic to your website.
Only on very rare occasions. Most of time people just ignore your submissions.

Social Media has a lot of benefits, which allows you to

1. Increase visibility and also get your brand noticed easily.

2. Get more traffic - When people start recognising your brand, it is only obvious that the traffic on your page would be higher

3. Increase Search Engine Rankings - An improved search engine ranking helps your customers find you easily. You need to be aware and list yourself on every site which can rank you high on every search engine.

4. Improve Conversion Rate.

Sorry to say but that's complete twaddle

1. Increase visibility and also get your brand noticed easily. - only happens very rarely

2. Get more traffic - When people start recognising your brand, it is only obvious that the traffic on your page would be higher - traffic to what? If you mean the SM page this rarely result in a sale.

3. Increase Search Engine Rankings - An improved search engine ranking helps your customers find you easily. You need to be aware and list yourself on every site which can rank you high on every search engine. - no it doesn't

4. Improve Conversion Rate. - no it doesn't, it can often decrease conversions.

I agree with fisicx, It may depend upon the visibility of your business on social media. For example
1. How many likes do you have?
2. How many followers do you have?
3. How many comments do you have?
4. How many subscribers do you have?
5. How many views do you have?
6. What type of post you are posting?
7. Posting technique matters with a unique description and trending hashtag?

I love the advocacy posts here, explaining why social media, and an agency, are extremely beneficial.

I have read them more than once, and I still do not understand their point.

Am I to understand that those businesses without a Facebook thing and instaSnapLinkTwit page are doomed?

A caveat. I do use social media for marketing. But I am still struggling to see how it is essential.

Gosh yes. That's why Amazon are struggling so much and eBay is failing.

Until now many people are considering social media as a marketing strategy for their business but in reality people using social media focuses on their life updates, news, events that really affects their lifestyle and has nothing to do with their selling products and services in SM.

Agree with the sir.
Nobody won't some random stuff about the random products on their personal social media feeds page.

Well for starters I would tell the truth. Your real name isn't Sophie Leonard posting as you are from Uttar Pradesh and using a random stock image for your avatar. And not even sure why you need to ask the question considering you are a 'Digital Marketing Strategist & Consultant'.

The benefits of social media can be defined in many ways. This is because the value of social media is often evaluated from different perspectives. For example, say you have an e-commerce website. Your goal could be to increase hits to your site. So you decide to do SEO (increase ranking on organic search). There are a ton of search benefits from social media. Social sharing and back-links help increase ranks. Also, social media outlets can help increase hits to blogs and other relevant content you have.

Below is a sum of the main benefits you can expect to gain the from use of social media for your brand.
1. Advanced Targeting
2. Direct Access to Customers
3. Brand Awareness
4.Lower Advertising Cost
5. Increase Relationship Capital
6. Unbiased Reviews on Brand, Product, or Service
7. Build a Community
8. Word of Mouth
9.Increase Leads & Sales

Social media marketing is very helpful.
No, SMM can be helpful. But very often it isn't. If you are an undertaker I doubt you will get much traction from instagram. Can't really see a 'coffin of the week' post getting lots of likes.

100% agree! I think it depends largely on the industry and the target market...

Social media marketing allows your business to connect with its customers, but also its potential customers too. Your existing customers already know that you're great, they love your product/service... if you are able to engage with new customers online, your business could truly benefit. With the right target market in the right industry, social media marketing can be a huge driver of sales - increasingly so too.

Yes. But not for every business.

We all know SMM works, but for some products and services it’s less effective than other methods.

Social media allows immediate interaction and customer feedback. Companies can also respond to their customers immediately. When nearly half of American customers use social media to ask questions about products or services, it is important to develop a social media customer service strategy.

Social media is perfect for showcasing your business. But there is a problem if your page has 50,000 followers almost 30,000 are inactive or your page post doesn't appear in their news feed. And rest 15,000 do not even bother anything in this world!! Only 1-2K people are serious about your page & may like your content and share it. But who knows when they will buy anything.

But, again some of my friends always looking for products on Facebook to buy. They are real buyers not just hitting the like button here & there. Then I found a particular type of product is performing well on Facebook.

1. Beauty products
2. Exotic Items (not found in local shops)
3. Best for lead generation. (not sure about it, but heard it is good)

If someone thinks that social media doesnt drive sales - then they are not living in the real world. Social Media influencers have massive influence - I see this in my sons's behaviour and various niches I am in online.

Opinions are opinions and that's fine - but to state something as fact when it's just that persons opinion is pretty pointless.

SEO Tools / competitor link analysis / keyword research / site audits etc are essential in respect of being in the same ball park as your competitors. Being up and on social media and gaining influence is just another seem in which to mine from.

Basically if it works for you then it works - end of. Listen to others opinions but dont take it as gospel just because they are an Admin etc.

An smm tool I use - lets me hop on and hop off as and when I need to for a dollar a day. Tells me when someone somewhere on SM / blogs etc starts a conversation about something I have knowledge in.

Social Media Marketing is an essential element of successful marketing. It is becoming the most vital part of successful digital marketing strategies. The benefits of social media marketing include
increased Brand Awareness, improved SEO rankings, rise in website traffic, and lastly, it is the most cost-efficient component of an advertising strategy.

I never use facebook personally, it just does not appeal to me personally. But my clients and staff love it, along with all these other social media things I have never used. So they use it and we have as a company a few facebook pages in various niches (dogs, ghosts, weddings etc). COVID aside, as a hospitality business we use our facebook pages to fill spaces for niche events and key calendar dates we need to fill with something - e.g. Valentines etc. Sadly with the hospitality industry all but closed down, it makes little sense to promote anything right now, as the chances are the customers will be in local lockdown and so cannot come, or we will be in some sort of lockdown restriction by the time the date of any event we promote comes round. We like the idea we can target niches with facebook. It's horses for courses - social media works for selling 'social' events and gatherings. I can confirm for the hospitality trade it works. We can promote weddings, B&B, Dinner deals, ghost hunts, dog friendly breaks, Sunday lunches, Christmas events, doggie events, and key calendar dates etc by posting details on facebook. If we do not get enough traction with our own followers, a 'boosted post' works to fill empty dates, especially for the more weird niche interests such as the ghost hunts. For anything less nichey or not so 'social', I doubt social media works as well as claimed. Provided we do not over-use it, we can sell dated events via a facebook page - any event date for someting specific that needs filling can be promoted at a very low cost per client, but that is really down to the type of offers 'fitting' with the audience who 'follow' us.
