What next with 'leads'?

I had my stand at the dog show at the weekend - the weather stayed dry and sunny for the two days would you believe!

Anyway, we had our prize draw to gather contact details, the question is, what do I do with them now? We had 'would you like more info on xxx yes/no' for each of our services, which some people ignore and some filled in, but I've been told these are very valuable leads and I must act within a week.

I'm just not sure what 'act' I'm supposed to take!? I know I need to redevelop my newsletter as currently it's really only of interest to current clients, but what else do I do with the 150 odd contacts I've gained? All the entry slips did state they would be added to our newsletter.

Pudsey won BGT. Follow them up with an email or call, see if there is anything they are interested in. Mention they filled in your form at the show to prove you're not spamming. If anything it shows you're efficient and actively seeking business and you might get a few orders out of it.

I would develop an information pack. Send them the details and then aim to give a follow up call after that to see if there is anything you can do for them.

I like it, however, it could take a week or two to do this properly, to rush an info pack will give off a bad first/second impression. However you could easily form an email using mail chimp or similar!

The guy who does my website is sorting that out for me, I already have an info pack for people who ask about some of my services, so I can adapt it, but there are bits and pieces I need to tidy up. Hopefully tomorrow I won't be running around so much so can get my head down and work on it.

I think Mail Chimp or equiv would be a good idea. I have just spent last Sunday putting together a mailer, took me a day of fiddling and understanding it, but I have something to send and actually quite happy with my first attempt. If nothing else you will have all the email addresses typed up. You can then get your leads to view your website with all the info they need!
Suggest you type the email addresses into Excel, first name, second name rather than straight onto website then you have a basis to work from if you decide to choose a different emailer (rather than mailchimp) It is pretty user friendly...;)

Yup, a database would be good, also have status fields (contacted, converted etc) It'd all be manual though unless you invest in a decent CRM system but no need for that!

I'm thinking of getting in touch with that spreadsheet guy to ask about my scheduling as it is, maybe he could do that too. :-/
Hi Have you used Microsoft Office at all, if you have, you can do this yourself and maybe spend your money on something else.
A simple spreadsheet, just fill in the columns with info and head them the same as where they need to be exported will certainly get you by for now. If you need any help I can offer basic knowledge;)

I've been getting by like that for over 3 years, it's no longer good enough - I want my scheduling more automated, and I want more information out of the information I put in. I don't even know what you mean by 'where they need to be exported' so at this stage it makes sense that paying someone else is cheaper than me learning how to use it before I can even start.

I use mailcustomers.com. The service is great and you can really quickly set up a really professional email using the templates and track the results. They have a really easy to use system and I find the how to section really helpful. If you wanted to get more information from the leads you have collected regarding their interests and needs you can use the survey feature. I have found this invaluable and have been able to drill down into my leads and customers to segment them based on their needs. This has really increased my conversion rates.

Oh and I definitely think you can do something fun with Pudsey winning Britain’s Got Talent. You might not have watched I bet a lot for your potential customers did!

Yes but what? I've got no time for people who want to prance about on the telly (unless my Fred gets on ITV's Top Dog model of course ;) ) so not sure how I can use that to get me anywhere?

okay, that all seems simple enough. I thought there might be more to it than that! Thank you!

There is more to it than that

! But I can't afford the flak I would get on here If I told you what you should really be doing with the best 150 warm leads you have probably ever had,

Please...try and work it for yourself. I hope you got the phone numbers ?:)
