I have been trying to learn running google Adwords campaigns on my own but I have not so far gotten an opportunity where I can put my learned skills to test. After sometime everybody forgets whatever is learned and same is the case with me. I would like help of you all in how to keep my skills polished and get initial level position?

I would like to suggest you to learn basic from Google Ads training. Believe me it is the best resource available to learn PPC from basic. Once you have an idea then you can run small campaigns and see how it works. You can optimize the campaign to get maximum benefits in less budget.

Do a search on YouTube. You will get a ton of playlists specific to PPC tutorials. I think that's one of the easiest approach out there.
And most of them are either wrong or just useless

If you want to waste your money trust in youtube.

Learn from reading guides from Respectable websites in the same area. Read a few articles and actually put it in action. You can actually learn and run a campaign just from following those guides. But it'll take you time to learn it.

The best way to learn PPC is just by doing it. Google have recently redone their system to create ads and it's much more streamlined now. What's particularly nice is that you can automatically target over 100 keywords in your niche which are automatically chosen for you, so almost no keyword research is required.

Run a test campaign with your site on a low budget, e.g. £40/mo. and monitor the results. Then up the budget and start getting visitors.

Have you tried a tool called Keywords anywhere. This tells customers of the search results. and the CPC (cost per click). You can use this software to research your Maximum Bid for your search term.
Sorry this is not a software, It is a toolbar for chrome and firefox

Set a budget and dive into it. Google has a team of PPC professionals who will help you along the way. They know you are investing your money with them, hence, they have to help you optimize your Google ads to get more sales, so you will continue to spend more with them

When I started PPC for my clients, I learnt from Lynda as the client wants to focus on LinkedIn. For Google AdWords or any other search engine campaigns the guidelines and videos from Google school helped me a lot. I also had taken a Udemy paid course but what Google learnt was very effective for me.

According to me, You can first revise the basics of PPC. For that, you can use Google Ads Help or join a PPC course on Udemy. These are the best platform for learning PPC. You can also take the help of youtube. Once you get enough knowledge regarding PPC and its working, you can start by running a campaign on a very small budget, then try to apply your learnings and see how it is actually working. You can also take help from Google. They have a PPC professional team who can help you. Keep on practising. As practising is the best way of learning.

You can also enroll for the PPC course on Lynda.com which is LinkedIn learning if most of your focus is on LinkedIn.

Be careful when setting up a Google PPC campaign select "exact match" or G will eat your money up fast with irrelevant broad and phrase matches which you won't have the experience to understand at the beginning of your Google PPC journey.

Google are offering free advertising due to Coronavirus if you register with them for that offer they will update you, personally I would start with Bing for low cost PPC costs and what gets you results there in terms of keywords leading to sales then transfer same keywords to your Google campaign
