What is a good CTR to test a business idea?

Hi, I've built the first version of a landing page to validate a business idea and I'm testing the public interest with an ad on Facebook. What is an acceptable CTR (that considers only clicks on the link) to start?
In addition, if the CTR is low, what actions would you recommend to take? How do i understand if it's the ad not good enough or if people are not interested?
Thank you

CTR is a simple indicator - conversion to sale is the best indicator!

CTR has nothing to do with the landing page, only with the quality of the advert.

CTR will tell you the strength of the advert, as for your landing page you need to measure bounce rate and more importantly conversions.

Regarding acceptable click through, this varies massively depending on product/service offered and platforms used, for Facebook you would aim for between 1-2% typically

An acceptable CTR is anywhere from 2-3%. This means that for every 100 clicks on your link, you would like at least 2-3 of those to result in someone completing the action you want them to take.
Ensure that you are targeting the right audience. Are you using too many verticals? Is your target market narrowly defined, or are you reaching out to people who might not be interested in what you have to offer? Once you know which ads are generating results and which aren't, it may be necessary to revise those campaigns accordingly. If people aren't clicking on your ads, it's likely because they're not interested in what you offer. For this reason, it can be helpful to test different copy variants and creatives until one finds one that resonates with potential customers.

No, CTR (in your example) is for every 100 impressions 2-3% of views clicks your adds (click through to url). To complete an action would be Conversion Rate

Running a Facebook advert doesn’t test the business idea. All it does is test how good you are at creating adverts.

It’s what they do on your landing page that matters.

Suppose 100000 people see your advert and 2% click. That’s 2000 visitors to your website. If 2% complete whatever action you have that’s 40 potential new customers. When the business launches you might get one of those 40 to actually become a client.

Maybe 1,000,000 impressions might give you some more meaningful data. But probably not. Facebook is not a good source of potential customers.

If it's your first Facebook ad, I would run an A/B testing ad.

CTR depends on your goals, but also how good you've set up the ad in the first place.

You'll want to optimise your ad, don't leave it ticking.

I'd also make sure your landing page is relevant to your ad.

You'll be surprised how many clients I deal with that don't think about the landing page's content.

Click-through rate (CTR) is an essential metric in digital marketing that measures the number of clicks on an ad or website link divided by the number of impressions. While CTR can vary significantly depending on the industry and type of ad, a good CTR to test a business idea is typically between 2-5%.

A CTR of 2-5% indicates that a significant number of people who view your ad or website link are clicking through to learn more about your business idea. However, keep in mind that CTR alone cannot determine the success or failure of a business idea. It's essential to analyze other metrics such as conversion rates, customer acquisition cost, and return on investment to determine the viability of your business idea.
