What books are considered essential to read on SEO? The books which every person wanting to get into SEO MUST read?

I've always dealt with programming and haven't really done much on the marketing side of things and dealing with attracting sales but that is changing now and I desperately need to improve my SEO skills. So I'm asking you for say three books which are considered classic SEO books that will get me up to speed as quickly as possible.

Feel free to recommend more if you want :D.

Thank you for your help.

There are no essential books (because they go out of date so quickly) But there is tons of online material.

Start with the google seo guide:

Then things like this:

A google search for seo guides will give you lots to choose from.

That's interesting, as I have just knocked up a quick guide book for some clients, but, as @fisicx says, it will probably be out of date in a month or two.

I have taken @Tin's course and it is very good.

The core elements of SEO haven't changed in years: create interesting and informative content that adds value. If you can do this along with good internal navigation you are halfway there.

You then need to consider EAT: expertise, authority and trust (when compered to similar sites).

Then look as how the site is structured, responsiveness, speed and other technical aspects.

How you do all the above depends on the type of site.

It's great to know that quality over gimics still work!
