Presumably you take exports as well? Problem with replication is if something goes wrong it gets replicated to all servers.

Yes we take snapshots every hour. I imagine if we have a problem that gets into a database and replicated we have bigger problems than recovery.

We store data we use daily to Google Drive and iCloud.

For general Backups (client data, system backups, etc..) we have a RAID1 NAS with 2x3TD WD Red drives, then an external HDD attached to that which backups are pushed to.

Finally we also have a second backup of all client data to Amazon S3

Local backups via Time Machine (we are all Macs). Then continual remote backups. By far the best remote backup solution we have ever used is Backblaze. Fixed price to back your entire machine.

I use dropbox, google drive and mediafire accounts for backup. But my advice to keep an external hdd for your personal finance documents, private pictures and other important documents. Its not better to upload them on the internet. In this case I believe no one.

To all those people relying on Dropbox etc, what would they do if a file became corrupted? Dropbox will sync the corrupted version to all devices under some circumstances. Same with ransomware. Replication is not a backup in itself! If you have a local copy, it needs to be outside of your Dropbox folder for this to be an effective strategy.

This post is incorrect - Dropbox has versioning so this post in inaccurate, I have restored ransomware infected machines that have synced to Dropbox successfully.

Google drive is not a backup its a cloud copy, use Backupify or Spanning services, they will take a true backup directly out of Google Drive

I use 2 nas drives for local scheduled backups ( full + incremental ) and an ftp server in combination with acronis for business critical off site back. Like your own personal cloud. Only thing I had to do was upgrading the router. My Huawai talk talk business router stopped working via ftp access. A cisco smb router solved that problem. If you run a database make sure to make daily and weekly backups in case they get corrupted.
