Hi Guys,

I was wandering what is the best way for a small company to get our webiste name outhere?

It acts as a company brochure, no sales through the site.

But We want to create Brand awareness.

I have read up on here, and most seo and other paid services are too expensive for us.

Is there any ways we can promote our site that does not cost the earth?

Thanks.

If you look at it as a cost, everything is too expensive. ;)

Promotion (advertising) should NEVER be observed as expense. You allways have to look at it as investment.

This means you need to calculate the ROI (return on investment). If ROI is positive, there is no such thing as too expensive as it doesn't matter how much it costs since it returns more money in sales.

I hope I helped :)

I agree with Toni but there are free things that you can do.

Write good, helpful answerss to people's problems on forums like this one and include a link in your signature.

Write a press release and post it to all the free press release sites.

Write helpful and informative comments on popular blogs, again with a link in your signature.

Swap links with relevant websites but not link building schemes as they can harm your SEO.

Post your link on Facebook, Twitter, Myspace etc.

If relevant, post a video on YouTube with your link in the description box.

Thanks for the feedback guys,

I did not mean cost in a negative way, ROI is a great way of looking at it.

I guess my question was not directed correctly.

But Thank you guys.

after some of the self indulgent or useless responses so far i fear this forum is turning into Digital Point.

On the other hand some good advice has been given, but if you want to create brand awareness the best way to do this is to - brand everything! include your logo in everything from email and forum signatures to letterheads. when distributing press releases or writing articles/blog entries, include your name and your band name in each item you write. use twitter, follow people in your industry and potential customers, offer value to people who follow you by posting links to relevant content - if you've written it, all the better ;)

secondly have patience. i'm still buildind up Open Networking (in my sig) and it's taking time to get people interested, but the slow trickle is steadily turning into a fast flowing stream!

If your business is the the same as sector 5 security .com website then you already have a good online presence. I am assuming that your market is currently focused on a geographical area - at least that is the feeling from the website.

For local branding I would consider sponsoring some local events.
Also offer free services to get your Sector5Security sign in shop windows ... wouldn't shop keepers benefit just by having a "monitored by Sector5Security" sign in their windows?

You could also use Google adwords for local searches, these will be cheap per click - not much traffic but your business name gets shown in google listings.

yes it is that business, and it is a good idea to have my name on shop fronts.

But as you will know security is sold face to face, i am in the process of brand building.

I have tried all the options including google ppc, but the return on the "time" invested is not great.

Sponsoring events is a great idea, thankyou very much for that one, ill look into that abit more.

Theres some good advice on this thread, from those who know what the talking about.

From an SEO point of view, this forum itself has a variety of SEO experts, who are able to offer cost-effective solutions.

From a branding point of view, and I have to admit to being slightly biased, one of the best ways is to utilise press releases and articles. If you are geographically located, especially within the UK and your business is primarily UK driven, one of the best ways is to utilise articles that are well written and interesting as well as being informative, that are then submitted to a range of UK hosted and registered websites, making sure that you utilise relevant keywords within your anchor text, which will improve your UK search engine positions, by providing relevant one way do follow back links.

Press releases are utilised by a wide variety of companies to offer newsworthy information on a variety of subjects. They can be submitted to various organisations as a way of creating exposure and potential business, and are a good way of getting your name out there.

Reality is that if you want to promote your site and you don't have any cost for paid accounts and any other sites so one thing is left that is your struggle .. You have to do struggle on your site ...It will give you good PR for your site .. And obviously visors are also increase and when organic of your site is increase then your small is business is going to increase ... I want to say struggle is main thing if you don't want to waste your money on site ...So keep :) Thanks

B2B is a good platform and there are so many enterprises there and many buyers and sellers will see your company information, so it's a good way for promotion.

There is a long and difficult way to go on until you will archive brand awareness. But you must know that it can be done even if you don't have high budget as long as you are familiar with all the things that must be done and you have the time to do them.

My daughter was in the same boat as you. She now does her own SEO and can get her sites on to page one of google. My advice to you is go on to the warrior forum which is the worlds largest marketing forum. She learned everything there is to know about SEO and making websites.

If you already target local customers in your area or county you can easily get your company on to page 1 with google's local search.

SEO is a minefield and I do not suggest you use a specialist company to handle that for you because most of them don't know what they are doing and will rip you off! You can teach yourself for nothing (at warrior forum...google it) and I'll bet you will know more than 75% of the so called experts just waiting to take yoiur cash off you. Google have free tools available to help you with SEO.

That's my good deed for the day!!!

Gifts with your company logo and some company information are also a good way.
1)They will keep long-term impression when your client see/use/play with.
2)Meanwhile,they are not expensive.
3)No one will refuse a gift.It is a good beginning before they accept you and your company.

Put your website address on everything you print. This includes

Business Cards
Letterhead
Invoices
Newspaper Ads
Yellow pages advertisements
Receipts

Be sure that you put your website address in your signature.

Good content is king. Regularly add new content to your website.

Make sure your site is properly submitted to search engines.

Offer free articles to other sites in exchange for them placing a link in the article back to your website.

Place classified advertisements, and include your URL in them.
