Web site not opening?

Hi,

I've just had a PM from a chap who had told me he couldn't open my web site, has anyone else had this problem. If you have, please let me know then I can try and sort it out.

Looks fine .. either he is wrong or you have a great way of getting us all to look at your site :lol:

No it was a real PM, he said it worked fine up until a couple of days ago, now he gets nothing. I've just tried it and it came up straight away.

Good idea though, didn't think of it :lol: Could be broken every week now :lol: (only joking)

I confess - it was me (not a trick by Jayne!). But it definitely isn't working (though it was the other day!)

Everything else is fine, just Jayne's site. Perhaps a DNS issue? (I get bowbiz.co.uk resolving to 83.245.62.26 - anyone care to confirm they get the same?)

I get the same problem on both IE and Firefox, just in case anyone was wondering!!

How am I going to find my next bakery to buy now? :)

I'm worried a bit, that others cannot open it. Not a good start to my new business.

So any feedback is welcome and I can send all the info' to my host/designer.

Works fine for me, ip resolves to the same ip as Stephen got.

Its a mystery...

... or something at Stephen's end. :P

Did you get a 404 or 500?

It's very strange - it doesn't work from other machines where I am, but does work from one of my clients on the same ISP.

I don't get a response from the webserver, so don't get 404, 500 or anything.

A ping gives me the IP, but all requests time out.

Are you behind a firewall thats blocking IMCP (Jayne, it's OK and dont worry). Are the machines (working/non-working going through different hus/routers/VLAN's)?

Right - getting somewhere! Just spoken with my upstream ISP tech, and from discussing the tracert from my location, it's stopping with enta.net. This appears to be some kind of error in the route that is being advertised by enta from my upstream providers to the hosts.

The problem can't be that widespread if everyone else on here can see, but it definitely exists, and I'm pretty confident it isn't just confined to my site (otherwise I wouldn't have raised it!).

Perhaps one of the hosts on here might be able to shed a little more light on the issue, or suggest how best it can be resolved? Enta's tech (http://www.enta.net/index.php?id=47) might also be able to help, or at least point in the right direction.

Hope this isn't too confusing!

Agreed. Jayne, I'd definitely consider speaking to (or getting your web developer to speak to) enta to investigate further. The tracert I pasted earlier should be helpful.

This is a real problem, i'm not trying to get people on my site. If I wanted that, I would have just ask for people to click on it, because that's what i'm like. My host has already looked in to it and it's something to do with a server/data thing. Not my site. If you want me to click on your site, just ask :D

My host says it's just one type of server thing thats the problem. Had mine checked out and it's fine. It's not passing data properly, or something like that.

I didn't post it to get people to look at it, Stephen PM'd me to say his didn't work, so I got worried people couldn't open it, so asked on here. I thought it would be OK, but I seems to have anoyed some and I didn't mean to.

It sounds like a routing issue upstream from the datacenter your webserver is located at...

UKBF "Plain English Charter" Translation...

If you imagine that all traffic on the internet runs like cars on a road - then one set of traffic lights around the corner from where your server is have broken - So anyone coming from "that direction" cannot get through... :wink:
