Virtual Registered Business Address Recommendations

Hi All! Hope you are well.

As per the title, I am after some recommendations for companies which offer virtual registered office addresses in London, preferably Central London, ideally City of London.

I would be looking for a service which provides a registered office address as well as directors service address and business address. Would also need mail forwarding.

I have found a couple of services with the above with prices ranging from £90 - £130 for the year.

Can anybody also advise - with regards to company records, as I understand it, they are to be kept at the registered address. In the case that your registered address is provided by a third party company, would they keep your records or would you just keep digital copies and send the physical copies to them should there be an inspection?

Also, I read somewhere that you must have some kind of signage at the reception of your registered address is this the case?

Why do you want to do this?

I don’t think I’ve ever been concerned about the location of a business. The only thing that has put me off dealing with someone is their use of a virtual address.

Hi fislcx, thank you for your reply.

At present, I am not in a position to take up proper office space and will be working from home and sometimes co-working spaces. As a companies registered & service addresses are made public I would rather not use my home address.

Why not? I’ve been using my home address for years and never had any problems.

Using a virtual address isn’t the best move. Banks don’t like them nor does google. And people are suspicious of them.

It would be my personal preference from a privacy and professionalism perspective to have a specific office address as opposed to my home address. I appreciate you haven't had any problems and nor would I expect any myself, however, in a time in which data, privacy etc is such a precious thing, it seems counterintuitive to me to have my home address in the public domain. I understand there are a number of people such as yourself that use their home address as their registered office as well as on the flipside there being a number of people that use an alternative registered office, whether it be leased office space, their accountant or solicitors office or a third-party service provider.

I have spoken to a couple of accountants regarding their services for year-end accounts etc and they have said they have a large proportion of their clients whose registered address is that of the accountant offices and it is a service they offer, so I may well go down this route.

Upon review of expected expenditure on coworking space etc, I may well be in a position to afford some form of small office space. Just trying to weigh up the options and see which makes sense, therefore am trying to get some further understanding of people's experiences and whether anyone had any recommendations.

Completely respect your view on the matter and I appreciate your input as it has provided a useful alternative perspective especially regarding banks and google, which is something I hadn't heard anybody say previously.

Definitely food for thought, many thanks :)

I was going to suggest this but not sure if you had an accountant.

I agree using a home address is not going to work for everyone but it does have the benefit of helping your online presence. For example, Google My Business will be able to match the address on your website helping your visibility. If you use an accountant or a virtual address you can't so easily set up a GMB page. You may not need this right now but there are a lot of benefits in having this option.
