VIOP telephone service

We have been having issues with our business landline which has lead me to consider a VOIP system.

It's for a business reception phone. I would like to have remote access to the phone system, so I can possibly answer calls if the retail premises is closed (or set up office hours so a message is taken out of hours). I've read some VOIP/cloud systems have an app you can install on you mobile, so it acts like another line. At the retail location, would like to use a normal phone and am able to plug a phone into the router, if such a thing exits.

I would like to be notified of missed calls and answerphone messages, both at the retail location and on my mobile, and for calls to stack calls if the line is busy and be notified if anyone hangs up before getting through.

We currently use a truecall unit so a call blocking feature would be good. The truecall has the ability to record calls, which has proved useful in the past with attempted fraud and abusive calls, so this would be a useful feature.

Also do any VOIP system allows SMS service with perhaps the business name showing instead of the number? We run a database software and regularly send SMS, so it would nice to be able to integrate if possible. Currently we use an integrated mobile to do this.

I know very little about VOIP systems and have read about reliably issues, but they do seem to offer some amazing features. Can anyone suggest any services and what to look out for and pros/cons? Can a landline number be ported over to one? It's very important we don't lose our number.

Thanks for any input.

We can do most of that - not sure about SMS.

Anyway, if you'd like to talk it through will one of our tech support guys (not sales!) they'll give you honest answers about what's possible and how much.
