I have found a company who seem very good at designing/fitting vehicle graphics. I was hoping that somebody could offer some 'marketing' input in terms of design and message. Apart from the basics what else should I consider. Should our logo be on all sides for example? Do we need to have a tag line? I don't want it to look to loud. I was thinking of using light grey, black and silver/chrome for a more professional look. The vehicle is below:

Speak to the design company, ask what sort of things people normally have, have a look at similar businesses to the one you intend to run, then have a look at different sign written vehicles, then i'm sure something will come to mind. When i had minedonea few years back ,i wrote down the main points and the design company came up with an illuminous green design/writing with different shades to match, it stood out like a sore thumb and in the dark it was clear as day.it had the desired effect.

I'm not sure what business you're in but it's like any form of advertising in that you need to give people a reason to call or contact you.

However, you don't have time for anyone to read it thoroughtly, to pith is of the essence. In my case, the biggest words on the side of our vans are "Window cleaning 023 81 81 81 81", much bigger than our company name. We get a reasonable number of calls from people who have driven past. A memorable number or web address is very important. I paid a lot for the right number.

Hope that helps,

Vin

Less is more. One or 2 colours only. As little text as possible- Business name, what you do in as least words as poss and phone num or web address.

Nice van!

Here's my input: The base color should be dark and the text ...make it sparkle.

Phone numbers are a waste!!! Just put your logo, your business name and your website and maybe you can add some social media elements like: Post on our facebook wall where you've seen us and "get a cup of tea".

The most important is the website name but there's another very important thing that you didn't mention: what's your business?

I run a taxi/chauffeur/minibus company. The sign writing is for a new 16 seat minicoach we have bought. I've got the domain 16seaterminibus.co.uk. Even though there is no such word as 'seater' its used a lot more in our industry than 'seat' so I went with this.
Less is more seems to be the way to go.
Thanks

Get the basics right:

Call to action - make sure you have a short and easily memorable phone number or web address

Strap line - be clear about what you do, I've seen many vans with great sign writing but only the business name and its not obvious what they do

Get a professional logo designed - this is essential for brand recognition and not that expensive

This is your prime real estate - make sure you use the back and both sides (maybe the doors) and think about the colours, will grey and silver stand out that much on white? It depends on your logo but make sure you get some mock ups so you can see how the colours work.

I think his domain name covers your first 2 points.

With phone number in large letters.

Always lots of discussion about branding on the forum, this is one of the areas of developing your brand, being consitent throughout your business, taking the logo from the web site, onto vehicles, stationery, etc offers consistency.

I like it, looks very "executive" well done.

I tried going to your website 16seaterminibus.co.uk and it came up with google offering to translate from UKRAINE to UK.. Is there a prob with your website.

Out of interest, how much did you vehicle wrap cost??

Thanks for the comments.
Google chrome sometimes asks the translate question when website content is more popular in another country or language, and chrome assumes the website is from that country of origin -thats what I have been told.
It does it for me in chrome but not explorer. I will keep looking into this though as it look a bit shabby when a new visitor arrives at your site.

The wrap and lettering was £500+ vat.

That sounds like excellent value, are the company that did it local (as we are in Runcorn too)?

It's a nice enough job but it's not a wrap. Looks like the bonnet and rear window recesses covered and cut vinyl for the rest.

Looks perfectly OK though. :)

The bonnet and rear back door windows are printed vinyl wrapped and the rest is regular cut vinyl.
