I'm considering leasing a vehicle through my business as an alternative to personal contract hire or purchase outright personally...

Do any of you kind people have any helpful insights as to the relative merits of each option and things to look out for?

If you use an accountant have a chat with them before doing anything.

As a limited company if your company provides you with a vehicle you willl incur what's called a benefit in kind tax charge and as a result it may be better to run and finance your own car and charge the company for business mileage rather than have a company car.

I used to hire through the company but I found it much more beneficial to do private contract hire and claim back business mileage. The mileage claims almost cover the monthly lease payments and I have no BIK tax. You also have a stinking company NI payment on top of the BIK tax.
