I am not starting back properly until 5th Jan and just wondered if you are all working the days in between Christmas and New Year, whether you are taking time off, or whether you are using non proper work days for anything else constructive?

Working.

For me, it is pretty dead from xmas eve all the way through to the 4/5th January. Phones and emails are dead so it is a good time to get my head down and complete some projects.

I've had no choice but to take time off because all my clients are taking time off too, so I effectively can't work on most things at the moment.

I enjoy writing copy so I've actually been rather bored at times over these past few days! Quite eager to get started again on some interesting projects coming up.

I'll be working all of the days in this holiday period if I have to.

I put my back out at work Boxing Day lifting (badly) a 25k sack of sugar :( so I haven't really been able to do much since then....better be right by tomorrow because I have to go back.

Waiting to get my website finished (please God let it be soon!) but as emails are going unanswered I get they aren't working.

I remember ice skating, our nearest rink is now nearly 2 hours away so it is a real day out to go these days...Peter, why don't you get out there, bet your kids would love i!!

What do you do which requires a 25kg sack of sugar.

Clients all closed until 4th Jan, wife's gone to work (why take holiday when it's cold and dark?), so a great time for all those jobs that keep getting pushed to the bottom of the list.

Trouble is, my "do that between Christmas and New Year" list is actually rather long, so I'd better get on!

Sorry to hear about your back MrsPWN :( Hope you get better soon.

KM-Tiger, I had a "things to do between xmas and new year list" too but haven't made much progress as keep being sidetracked by polly pockets, bionicles, amongst other things :)

You just want someone else hobbling round to keep you company. :)

Our arrangement works quite well thank you. I drive them to the ice rink and sit in a quiet corner with my laptop and wallet. The kids go round the rink 3 times and then take money out the wallet for food and drink. This process gets repeated 2 or 3 times per kid and then we go home.

I'm working, as I always do this time of year. Plenty to do and it gets a grumpy old git (me!) out of the house.

In the office at the moment, might run away and go home now as the sleet is thickening. Do I trust the forecast that it's going to turn to heavy rain by 6pm? Hmmm?!

I can work remotely in any event and the phone has hardly rung, so maybe I'll put the answerphone on and take the mobile with me.

The customer services and sales side of my companies are dead at this time, and although I'm suppose to be off work when the Mrs and kids go out I just get my laptop out and do a little bit.

I didnt do any work christmas eve or christmas day, but all the other days I have. I wont be working New years eve other than getting ready for a party at time. and new years day I will be getting out of bed just in time to go to my supprise birthday party that im not suppose to know about.

Well one of us is working whilst the other aint!

Although I have been enjoying peace and quiet with no brats, no phones and no reading of emails over the last few days, but its almost back to normal.

I do have lots to do including heading in to Manchester to meet with some PR people and get some press photos taken for a press release.

Its quiet in parts of the business, but other parts carry on and the tax returns especially are hotting up all the time, so no peace for the wicked!

Well, we're still keeping busy with sales, but obviously not at the same rate as pre Christmas. (Although online retailers, we try and shy away from full blown January sales.)

As we're a little quieter than at other times, it's allowing us time to tidy up and get everything spick and span in time for the new year which will bring its own challanges:)

I have just spent hours and hours sorting out online photos.. How boring! It's like a jigsaw puzzle trying to match up photos from jobs :)

Another new years resolution... not to let them get in a mess :)

And I have to get my act together for just one little meeting this afternoon. Feel like I have gone back to work far too quickly :)

I went in to work yesterday for a bit of quiet and it was totally manic. The phones never stopped and I had to go out in the warehouse and help the guys get everything picked and packed in time. Bloomin' New Years Eve Parties.

It's nice to be busy. It'll be a lot quieter today with Top Hat in but I can guarantee there will still be some last minute panickers needing costumes Stat! We should be able to help, if Royal Mail don't let us down.

First week of Jan is usually just for sorting out returns, putting a few bits on Sale and prepping for Chinese New Year and Valentines - it's just six weeks away guys......
