Using home address

All,

I am wondering whether or not it's a good idea to put your home address on your website/invoices?

I am running this business along side my current day job, it's generating a lot of calls now from my website but I could do with adding an address to make it look more trustworthy etc and to have better rankings on Google,

I'm just worried about brandishing around my home address,

Any thoughts?

You could get a virtual address or a PO Box.

I PO box, in my opinion, doesn't create trust. However a local (in your case Devon) VA address could work.

I'm not really trying to hide anything I just don't fancy somebody randomly turning up at the house while I'm not there,

I also rent the house I currently live in so I'm not sure this would be a good idea,

A VA may be a good idea, I don't like the idea of a PO box as it looks un trustworthy,

In terms of 'random turn ups' I ran an e-commerce biz from my home address for three years. I had one person who randomly turned up to buy something in person, despite I put 'no facilities for customer visits' lol.

Hello Dave,

I run my business totally online and have my home address on many sites.

I have never had anyone turn up unexpected, I would not worry about it.

If you run a legitimate business and fulfil your obligations there would be no reason for people to knock on your door.

It's not always about hiding from potential idiots from bashing your door down (although that's another good reason for some) it's also about portraying an image.

I agree, many people go on website, click on Contact and check that they display an address to check they are for real. The more credible you can be can only be for the good.

I do wonder sometimes whether people have a look at your house on street view and whether that matches their image of your company.
