So if I sign up and archive the entire publicly available internet, every day - your system could cope with that?

All those terrabytes of data, bandwidth, and countless machines needed to handle that amount of bandwidth?

For 1 pound a month?

Oh and It would be cool to offer a free email service to everyone on the planet who wants a free email, can your sytem cope witht that?

Got plenty of video data, terrabytes worth to archive, got the space?

Unlimited heh? Could do with some of that, and all for £1 per month..... sounds too good to be true. I am so glad I logged on tonight, as I have found my perfect host :)

No, on second thoughts, I'll stick with my current one tbh.

softcloud.co.uk is a heartinternet reseller.

Heart internet limit their packages to very specific file types plus they require linking to large files directly from your site they also have many other similar restrictions.

Unlimited does not exist.

What I dont get about hostings is this.

Hosting is mainly bought by business.

Yet most hosting companies sell it as if its aimed at consumers, ie all smoke and mirrors !

The days of 'unlimited' are over. As can be seen with the earlier threads, no-one believes it any more. Too many stories about "fair use" policies etc. have made everyone realise that there is going to be an upper limit to any service.

Personally I would much rather be given a fixed number and told that this is my limit, rather than being told out of the blue that I have exceeded a policy I never heard about and that my site will be down for the rest of the month...

Actually hosting is purchased by all types of people. Be it a business, a school website, a charity, someone with a blog, someone trying out new scripts and need a test environment or just someone with a hobby website..

Some target the businesses (we do) and some the general public that just want a website..:)

UNLIMITED hosting means to me:

- UNMETERED Bandwidth (great but I like when I can see what % of bandwidth I have used)
- FOREVER Upgradable storage as when you consume it (i.e. its increased when 90% is reached)
- FEATURES without barriers..... you choose as many emails etc. as you want
- some AUP stopping all of the above!

Truly UNLIMITED doesn't exist... everything has a limit! Strange how these are always the cheap hosting plans.

Funny how people can get away with advertising unlimited hosting and storage. Imagine if you were looking for a new office building and they promised unlimited floor space...!
