UK fish import requirements

Hi Everyone

I am newbie to this website.. so if i have mistakenly posted thread in wrong place then please forgive me..

I am looking to start a small bussines in Uk with opening Fish shop were i can sell fresh and frozen fish which will be imported from india, but the problem is i dont know the import procedure, i try to search though internet but not able to figure out complete process, everywere i am able to get bit of information but ther is no were i could find complete guide on this.. so i though if i put my question here then someone who has already has this sort of import experience then he/she might be able to help me with guidline on laws/procedure on Uk import.

Basically i want to know on what sort of document do i need to prepare and any licence do i need before that or something..

every little help would be very appreciated..

I assume that if you want to import frozen fish your minimum order will be one 20"RC so you will have to put a lot of money into this project from the very beginning. Plus consider the all other costs and the fact that you will be dealing with perishable goods so your logistics, paperwork and sales must be fast and fault free.

Probably smaller portions by air can be the option (if you really want to start this hard business) but I would recommend source locally first, see how the sales goes, get to know the logistics and in the meantime collect the necessary information regarding direct import.

I deal with trouts grown in spring waters. Would u be interested in importing this kind of fish in UK ?
