Tough to Reach Prospects

As salespeople, we tend to waste a lot of time trying to find prospect's emails addresses, contacting them and following up after they don't respond, without having any control over whether they'll actually view or respond to our emails. We also run the risk of sending too many emails and having our domains marked as 'spam'.

I work in software sales and have multiple prospects that successful deals with would be worth more than $5-10k in commissions, and I've tried contacting them all multiple times without receiving a response. I'd happily pay them a couple hundred bucks out of my own pocket to hear a response from them so I could learn whether they are interested in taking a meeting or if I'm just wasting my time.

Does anyone know if there is a platform out there where you can do this?

Do you think you'd be willing to pay some money to a prospect to guarantee a response from them? If so, how much do you think you (or your company) would be willing to pay your top prospects?

There are far too many variables/unknowns to give a coherent answer as to why people aren't responding. However as a start point I'd look to see whether you are targeting the right people, whether your message and CTA are good and how your process evolves.

To your last question, no I wouldn't pay to be Guaranteed an answer - it would probably mostly be nonsense.

Some people won't answer until they are good and ready, some will just say something for the sake of it.

I cannot help with that but let me ask, are you doing your marketing efficiently?

I have seen people cold calling lists and getting 1 in 100 calls as a sale. I have seen sales reps attending 10 appointments to get a one sale. Not very efficient. Its easy getting the cold call successes down to 1 in 10 and the site appointment successes down to 1 in 2.

I would advise going and having a chat with your employer and ask them to provide a list of companies who have signed up in the past. Dedicate a few hours to researching them while going down this list (I would advise doing it in Excel for sum totalling):

Company Legal Form (Sole Trader, Partnership, Limited):
    Size (Small, Medium, Large, Multinational):
    Ownership (Private or State Owned):
    Do they have a website:
Is the website basic, average, or impressive:
What type of business is it (what do they do or sell):
What season did they buy in (off the contract date):
Where in the country are they:
Is that area deprived, regular, or well off:
(Add a few more of your own)

Next tasks is to spend a few hours filling in the list for customers who didn`t sign a contract. Now you might ask why are we doing this? Well, if we put our assumptions aside and analyse the data we can then create a list of businesses most likely to buy and least likely. Then you know where to focus your attention boosting your marketing efficiency.
