Torch for cold weather

Hi all.

For work I've historically used torches with replaceable AA batteries but purchased some rechargeable ones last year. The problem with the rechargeable ones are they don't hold a charge because I keep them stored in my car during the cold nights. Which means they are useless by the time I need them.

Can anyone recommend a torch that is rechargeable (preferably USB C) and can hold a charge when stored in the cold. The nights are getting longer which is why I need one now.

£100 budget but can go higher.

I’ve got a wind up torch. 30seconds of winding (which warms you up) and there is enough for about 5 minutes light. Wind for longer and it lasts a couple of hours. You can use it as a head torch or unclip to for a hand held.

Amazon has loads of then in all shapes and sizes. Saw one with a usb charger as well so best of all worlds.

For how long do you need to use the torch each day.

I use a rechargeable headtorch a lot, find it excellent, so good I bought three for some workers. Not sure how long you need the light to last but consider them, and dead cheap.

Never found the cold a problem, been using mine for two years now. Something like these.....

For anybody here that uses Makita rechargeable drills you can also get a good torch that the drill batteries connect to They are very good!

Hope this helps and sheds light on the subject :):):cool::cool:

Hi all. Thank you for everyone's responses.

What I've had before are cheap Chinese brands. I have all my equipment in the car and leave it there over night. I could put it inside the house but would prefer to leave it in the car. In terms of temperature, i imagine need it to cope with -5degrees

I've checked one of more torches and that has zithium ion which Ive never heard of before.

I want something small and pocketable.

Buy any torch that has a USB recharge and keep it plugged into your car, so it charges every time you drive!
