Time to raise the voting age?

More women than men probably vote Labour, lets roll back that one too: no votes for stroppy women. (Or even unstroppy ones; those quiet ones are likely to be right Jezebels.)

Arty sorts and Luvvies vote Labour, lets get rid of them somehow too. A 'Dhalin! Mwah Mwah airkiss' filter? (Anyone who is or might be called Bragg has to go. Billy and Lord Melvy-baby of Southbank.)

In fact, looked at the other way, most business people and property owners will not vote Labour so why not limit the franchise to only them.

In fact...don't you read The Garudina Steve? Tad subversive that rag. No vote for you either I'm afraid...:)

women vote for male politicians in the main based on 3 things.

Looks,charm,politeness.

Hence TV and the media did a great disservice to Politics.

Earl

You do talk complete and utter tosh Earl!!

Have you seen my local MP??

Ok so hands up, who when they finished their A levels/University days/qualified for the vote didn't vote labour to start with feeling rebellious as their parents voted conservative??

And actually I had a very good and interesting conversation with a group of 20 year olds last week who knew more about the state of play within the economy and had some good thoughts about how it should go, much better than anyone over the age of 26 I have spoken to recently!

would you like a small wager on that .?

Bearing in mind the amount of film star politicians there have been in the US.;)

I am talking about your average woman in the street ,not your oxbridge graduate.:)

Errr, is that almost a backhanded compliment Earl??

If so, I really do need to go and have a lie down!!

Perhaps I should mix more with these women you speak about that base their decisions on looks and personality etc ... although they do my sex a dis-service!

Oh there always being interviewed on the telly, you must have noticed they uaually have next bags with them.;)

Sounds like I am having a go at them, but the reality is that running a home and bringing up a few brats is a very busy job ( the toughest on the planet in my book ),and probably they do not have time or energy to unravel the finer details of the political world.

Don't watch tv unless I have to! Don't have time, too busy running a home, bringing up brats, running the odd business and understanding the finer details of the political world!!

decadent lady

Looks,charm,politeness. ......

I agree with this in part, however its not on the basis of what the politician looks like, but on the basis of which one of the canvassers makes the most impact on me. On this basis, the Liberal Democrats seem to have the more virile footsoldiers, and hence my vote. Liberal by name, and by nature. :)

Mind you, if Nick Clegg came to my door canvassing, I'd happily invite him in for a cup of coffee. ;)

funny you should say that scott, when i was old enough to vote i did every time ,only now as i have become more cynical about our mps have i stopped voting

I vote too, but I know a lot of people around the younger age bracket, and I can't imagine any of them even knowing about the parties, never mind choosing one to vote for.

Mind you, it is just my opinion and every area will differ. In certain areas you could find most younger people and students (such as uni students) are voting. However, you could find that huge numbers of younger people in other areas never bother.
