Are you self-employed or a sole trader?

Are you part of a small team?

Is your business Christmas lunch going to be a warm pint and a bag of salt & vinegar crisps, sitting alone in the corner of your local?

Well, worry not! Join us at the UKBF 'It's Lonely Running Your Own Business (Even Though There Are Over 5 Million Of Us) Christmas Lunch & Party!

We are planning a get together to bring as many UKBF members from across the country to one place to not only celebrate us, the powerhouse of the UK economy (no, this isn't a political broadcast!), but to remind ourselves that we are not alone - we are part of one of the biggest business communities in the UK and are here to help each other, giving advice, solving problems and being honest & open with feedback.

We would love to have a tour of many cities, bringing the love to the whole of the country, however, logistics and timings mean that we can currently only organise one event and London is probably the most logical location, due to the concentration of members in the South East and communications.

So, here's the plan

1 Agree on a date
2 Agree on food
3 Book
4 Party!

So, the proposed dates for the event are December
  • 2nd
  • 9th
  • 17th

The Meal options are
  • Tradition Christmas (£60-£80)
  • Chinese (£30-40)
  • Indian (£30-40)
  • General/international (£40-60)
Note - the prices are indicative, but we will strive to keep them at the lower levels

So, to get the ball rolling, please let us know what dates you can make it - choose as many as work for you.

We will then poll for the food choice.

Please respond ASAP, as time is not on our side!

Those two dates are good for me as well. Christmas starts December 24th and begrudgingly lasts until 1st Jan.

Or you could go clubbing, stay up all night and get the first train home.

I could do any of those dates 👍
But I am in Leyland, Lancashire so it would probably involve an overnighter in SE.
I agree Chinese or Indian would be great 👍
How long do you expect lunch to last? Although, as I will be coming from Newcastle, I have frequent and late train options.

Depends on the quality of the beer.

Paul and I have been rehearsing for over two years and have managed a 4 hour session on one occasion.

I've just looked at train prices. You can no longer get a return. The return leg from London to Newcastle, leaving after 4 pm starts at £137.90, unless I go via Hartlepool! I may have to revise my plans!

The 17th is currently cheaper, but I would have to book soon (fixed journey, no refunds!)

I have voted for 17th as it's the only possible one for me, I'll be overseas the 2nd and 9th. Wouldn't be 100% guaranteed for that date though as would have to work it in coming down from Bolton around other commitments. If I can though, would be great to put some faces to names :)

As for food I would quite happily eat Indian for every meal of every day, and don't particularly like Christmas/Sunday dinners (a previous business venture cooking 120+ of them every Sunday sort of put me off! 🤣). But would happily go with the flow.

    OK.

Let's go with the 17th, as it has the most votes.

    Formal food vote to follow....

In the diary. Will be in London for pre-dinner imbibing should the need to confirm the quality of the ale before the main party arrives.

Also need build up Dutch courage before scary Cindy get there.
