The same old question - How can I increase my website traffic?

I know its the same old question, but how can I kickstart my new website into action? I have bought traffic (mmmmm....), I have sent magazines and newspapers a press release (no reply), I have emailed associations (limited replies), done a leaflet distribution (waste of money), just starting an adwords campaign (dont know how much to spend) and am relying on my web designer to make it more visible. Has anybody got any info that will help a great idea??

Hi

I've moved your thread which was placed in the General Forum to this forum as I think you'll get more responses.

Hope that helps.

Ok let me help here

I know its the same old question, but how can I kickstart my new website into action?

I have bought traffic (mmmmm....),

Q) From whom ? what did you do ? PPC ? what did you buy?

I have sent magazines and newspapers a press release (no reply)

Did you follow up on any of the areas?

Tip.. NO dose not mean NO is means Not Now (be persistent )

Call For Action what did this read ?

What type of message did the advert display in your marketing campaign? as it could of been misinterpreted.

Does anybody want what you have to offer ?

Is it the right place? right time ? correct price , even the correct product

Learn the 7p's in marketing

• Product
• Price
• Place
• Promotion
• People
• Process
• Physical evidence.

Can you answer any the above questions yourself ? if yes you need to change your approach as you can see its not working.

(don't give up marketing)

, I have emailed associations (limited replies),

done a leaflet distribution (waste of money),
See Above

just starting an adwords campaign (dont know how much to spend)

Have you consulted a expert ? a) Please do right now ..

and am relying on my web designer to make it more visible. Has anybody got any info that will help a great idea??

A Website designer dose not know marketing he/she will only know the visual aspects of graphical design , they will not know how to send sales and repeated sales to you business neither do they know the key areas of the page which work best to capture people to buy
Do not get these two areas confused ..

Yeah - stop doing all of what you just said. For a start, it sounds like you have no idea what you are doing. Sorry for being so blunt. Log into your adwords account and place any campaigns on PAUSE this will earn you money straight away by not depleting your bank balance.

OK where to start!:

1. Press releases: Do not submit them to newspapers or magazines, unless you have something very very cool to say they are not going to get back to you. You are going the right direction though. Submit them to article directories and press release distribution companies. Free and paid. Do this often and alternate between press release and informative articles, include your link and anchor text of what keywords you would like ranked for. Before adding your keywords, do some keywords research! Dono what keyword research is? Research keyword research!

2. Adwords: Hope you stopped the campaign by now and saved yourself some cash ;-) Don't even bother with adwords unless you have done keyword research, have a specific product to sell and have a sell page. Don't do adwords just to increase traffic and hope for a sale/conversion as this will decrease your conversion rate by several gazillion and you will be paying for someone to visit your site and leave on a higher ratio than if you had it set up to convert that visitor.

3. You said it was a new website, so take it slow and learn the ropes. You need to be doing a lot of reading if you want to monetise the site and it sounds like you are on the right tracks but just doing everything feet first. everything you mentioned are the best and appropriate ways to increase traffic but you need to be doing each one the correct way so one at a time.

In no particular order:

1. Article marketing.
2. Adwords campagins.
3. Contacting relevant sites for link swaps/link placement
4. Onsite SEO.

Learn about each one and you should be able to increase your traffic ten fold+

p.s. Don't by traffic, it doesn't work. popups, popunders etc... useless visitors that close your window as fast as it opens. Pointless.

Correction .. Targeted traffic work 100% as my clients spend 30 per day and gets back 120 in ROI..

Very good advice (franchiseshop) in nut shell but pause the ads if you dont know what your doing

The fact is gemma, in reality, its not easy to get certain information quickly, also, this is not restricted to the uk. For example, if a South American student on a visit here has a problem, where would medics go for info? Also, its not only for medical info, you may be a carer for someone who is depending on you and could be put at risk if you were detained. It offers instant update facility too, if your medication or situation changes at 10am, you can update it immediately.

Ok, magazines will just want money! So dont waste your time......

Newspapers are different, but just sending a release out won't do much, you need to ring them as well. It will go something like this:

Newspaper:
Did you send out a release?

You:

Newspaper:
Ok, then that's all you need to do - if they want to follow it up, someone will contact you

I have so much to go through this week, this site has been great, I have learnt so much.
What about affiliate marketing, does this work, has anybody any info on this, I shall not be acting on it right now, I am just researching and collecting as much info on my options as I can at the moment.
Thanks to all of you.
