I run a tiny architectural practice (1-5 people) and recent events including Covid has hit my practice. It is just me at present with my EU staff having departed sometime back. I've got other income from teaching, so I'm carrying on with that. I don't have overheads as I'm able to work from home. I watched a few webinars on DIT help available for small businesses but these apply to firms with £45m turnover while mine is £20,000 if I'm lucky. Does anyone know what help such small firms as mine can get? I'm looking for loans, grants and other financial help. Many thanks.

The accountancy partnership we use issued very comprehensive papers to all their clients on just this subject and the person who deals with our account telephoned and told our books person what she should and could apply for. I think we got a generous local one-off grant scheme that is not available everywhere. But this is the sort of question that accountants should be able to answer. It is exactly what they are there for!

Have known councils to do some particular grants that part paid for something. Usually when pushing a particular agenda. Perhaps security and willing to pay half of a security upgrade for a business - up to a limit.
Seen that one several times over the years, different towns.
