Telephone Exchange - Better Than - Other Than Voipfone

We have some numbers with voipfone and have had low level use with them for a number of years to forward to out landline and no more - and without issues

High speed internet - Virgin - has finally come to town so I am now wondering about moving to an online telephone exchange call handling - routing system - for the business

Virgin offer something as do voipfone and plenty more and I am sure they all have their strengths and weaknesses

So before I wade into a deeper partnership with anyone can anyone recommend some others that they looked into and decided offer more that others they considered and what they were offering

That will then act as a start point for some more detailed research

It all depends what you want and the sorts of functionality that you are after. We provide hoested PBX system and have customers who use SIP trunks to voipfone, so you would not have to have your numbers transferred to a new provider. But as I say it depends on your exact requirements.

Why not Voipfones PBX service?

There are an awful lot of things you can do with a decent IP PBX system above and beyond voicemail and ring groups. Just a few:

. Pickup groups
. Announcements
. Queuing
. IVRs (menus)
. Corporate directory
. Time conditions (e.g. working hours, out of hours, etc)
. Call flow control (e.g. receptionist puts system into night mode when the leave)
. Caller ID management (e.g. change your caller ID when you make different calls)
. Conferencing
. Call recording
. Follow me (to mobile, home extension, etc)
. Paging and Intercom
. Call Data Records
. Call Parking

etc, etc, etc.

I've kept out of this so you can get other opinions but it's been a while - how are you getting on?

You probably know that you make no commitment with us - it's just one month at a time and you can take your phones and numbers elsewhere if you think they can do it better.

Good to see you here and it was your posts that made me join you originally - but I did also look at others at the time

I have been very happy with what we have had from voipfone and support - which has never been much needed except in the early days due to our low usage

It is just that if we are going to get more serious with using it then to my mind it is time to look at it al again and have something that works for ever more

So please chuck your ha'penny worth in

From memory the only thing - and remember they were basic uses that we had - was being able to set the answer machine up in outgoing message only mode
Yes we said dont leave a message but we are talking joe public here !

No actual product to do that but what most people do is record the message then leave a long pause so people just hang up. Alternatively record the message, add a short pause then add the message again so that it loops. We're happy to do that for you if you like.
