Sub domain set up help please

I am using cpanel and wish to create a sub domain.

I know how to create the sub domain, but where do I put the folder for it (inside / above public html?) or do I do a redirect via subdomain menu to a directory in the root folder?

Have tried to read and understand the cpanel documentation, but its not making sense..

a sub domain is treated like a totally seperate domain name. New ftp , new index file etc.

I believe cpanel should create the folder for you - it may reside in the public_html folder but be treated as a sub domain but I'm not entirely sure as I don't offer cpanel!

So have a look around see if theres been a folder created.
