Hi, happy new year! I’m a semi retired business man with a background in startups. I launched and ran 2 successful businesses that both eventually sold. I’m looking for a new project and would be interested in hearing from someone who has the drive and skills to grow a new business venture. I have a couple of domains that might lend themselves to a business idea, banter.co.uk and freeway.co.uk. I’d be very interested to hear from you if you think you have any thoughts on the matter?

Getting a domain and then deciding what business is behind it not a good way to start anything!

In the absence of a specific idea, I would look to sell the domain and see if you can generate a bit of revenue that way instead.

From a quick search, there are 2.4m posts on Instagram with a #banter tag, and several accounts with banter used within their names that could probably commercialise this domain.

Find a buyer, rise & repeat. You have a new business with low overheads and a high ceiling…

Except those domain have almost zero value. The new TLDs means there are multiple ways to get a banter domain.

There are multiple TLDs, but I disagree about the value point. Dot com/co.uk add enhanced credibility, and nobody wants the same web address as another company with a different TLD due to the risk of verbal traffic going to the wrong location.

As I said, ROI would be significant if you identified the right type of buyer.
