I am a software developer so can take care of all the technical parts of putting up an e-commerce site by myself but im pretty clueless when it comes to marketing.

Can anyone recommend a good starting point? Books/websites/blogs to get me started.

Blogs - Create one for your site, update it weekly.

Social Nteworking - Join Facebook, Twitter, Ning. Update and check weekly. Add people. Never spam.
