Hi guys and girls, thought I better introduce myself, first post and all that....
I'm Chris from Create By Design, a newly founded kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and flooring design and installation company.
I have spent the last 10 years climbing the corporate ladder in the aftermarket automotive sector and was very successful doing it, however, I carried a heavy mental burden from my career. Ultimately stress, long working hours and unreachable expectation took their tole and I paid a heavy personal price for my professional commitments.
I've always wanted to work for myself and in a creative environment, I'm a veteran of the home improvement game and former kitchen designer and have worked on plenty of business plans to work for myself but never taken the plunge with any of my ideas as I kept falling back into the comfort of salaried life.
Over the last six months, I became more determined to work for myself, I've generated huge revenue for my employers in the past and felt that if I could do just 10% of what I did for them, for myself, I'll be more than ok. That lead me to leave my job 6 weeks ago and start working full time on my own interior design and installation company.
Its been a bit of a whirlwind, I've sourced finance, attended training courses to ensure my work is up to scratch, recruited supplier's of all the products I want to supply, got my subcontract network sorted, built a reasonable website (still needs a bit of work), got myself an office, got all the back-office systems working, tax situation sorted etc. and I'm at the point where I need to start generating enquiries and converting.... the bit I should be good at (fingers crossed).
I've joined up here as I have few minor details I need to work on before taking on my first job and hopefully, this should prove to be a good resource and place to bounce ideas in the future.
That's about it, I'm all introduced so hello from me!
