Sponsored Links for unregistered domain.

While Googling tonight I discovered a sponsored link for what appears to be a new website. On checking the domain I discovered that not only is the site not live but the domain does not appear to have been registered yet.

Any thoughts as to why somebody would set up a sponsored link for an (as yet) unregistered domain?

All joking aside most likely a mistake by the person..

lol the thought did cross my mind seeing as it's uses one of my target keywords! - I wouldn't stoop that low though.

It could be an expensive mistake if they are paying for clicks without benefiting from the traffic.
