hi i was contacted out of the blue by email, by a chap called alva from china. who must have found my tv bracket installation website online. any way he forwarded a price list ect. but now after reading a few posts on here i understand a bit more research is required before parting with my hard earned cash. we are diversing into the retail market, and would like to find a supplier of tv brackets. we currently get brackets from the uk which is fine for installation work, as the mark up is made on labour. but would need to source much cheaper for selling retail. quality and a complete product range is important. would be looking for samples first. followed by a order of between 500 to 1000 units. i found this company on global sources loctek. but not sure if they are ok.

You import prodcuts from China for the first time,do you?Get sample before order is necessary.Secondly, payment term, delivery term should be clear.Thirdly, delivery time should be confirmed. If you have question, you can ask me.

A friend of my cousin is doing the TV bracket business, i once visited him and he should me his friend's product - very good quality hardware in my opinion though i am not in this business.
If you need more information, let me know, i can get you some pictures or pricing for your reference. You know, comparing before making decisions :)...

By the way, i understood that currently he is exporting to the North America market.

yes importing for the first time. so its all new to me, in fact never done any buying or selling in any shape or form. i have no idea about the total cost involved. one of the biggest probs is the min quanties. i pm a few companies on global sources and they seem to want 100 to 500 min order per item. to launch i was thinking on about 30 products. but the quanties i would have to order would run in to ten of thousands of pounds, which i dont have. i was hoping to order some samples of the range i wanted to stock. if these were ok i would like to order 20 of each item so a total of 600 units. this i can afford without borrowing money. may be this quantity is to small.
i thank you for your replies and i will pm for more info.

The MOQ should be the problem from the global source as the number of the supplier on such B2B site is limited, they can get lots of inquires from the world, they are busy with other big orders, they cant replied very quickly. But you should know there are still huge number of manufactories in China which they are not on the global source, they cant speak english, and they are eager to get order from any kind of potential customer. There is another experience is that,if you have a long-term cooperated manufactory, they will not refuse
small order from you as they are afraid of losting other big orders from you in the future.I think you may need a sourcing agent in China.Hope helps.

I designed a tv bracket for a UK company a couple of years ago and they subsequently ordered 50,000 units. I remember the discussions about how the market was getting tougher and tougher due to the amount of competition in this game hence they were starting to source in China.

I noticed in Tesco`s the other day that you can buy simple tv wall brackets now for as little as a tenner !!! Wouldnt want to hang my old 42" plasma of them though !

If you know quite a bit about this industry you could consider having a design of your own made up like I did, it was actually pretty cheap to do and unique too. I understand costs are always an issue so this is not right for everybody, also having the skills/contacts to do it etc.

If you have never done any buying selling of any kind, especially importing from outside the EU, then I would recommend that you do lots and lots of calculations before you even consider which bracket or where to buy from. Shipping, import duty, freight forwarding etc etc all has to be factored into your costs so be careful.

If your only after approx 600 units then this to me sounds like a couple of pallets full ( unsure on size of bracket ) so in this case you could piggy back someone elses container space and just pay per pallet space.. this can actually work out pretty cheap if you shop around.
