Since I joined UKBF, I haven't promoted our co's products and services (other than via signature link).

Now, its time to promote them more heavily, so I went looking in the forum rules and FAQs to find out what you can and can't do.

I can't find any clear statement as to whether a UKBF member can advertise / promote his or her services. The only area that mentions promotion is the Special Offers area but it says 'this area isn't for promoting your normal services'. So if it isn't, where is?

I'd be really grateful for some guidance on this. Can I promote our products and services openly? If not, can you point me to the guidelines that deal with that?

Many thanks in advance!

It's more about promoting in context. If someone is looking for a widget and you sell widgets then post in response.

That's my take on this place, and I think it's solid approach.

Also if you post and people like the cut of your jib - because your posts make sense to them - then they will twig you sell widgets from your sig and come looking for you when they need widgets.

Like most networking, the hard sell seldom works.

Thanks, D, agree with you. I just wondered if I was missing something and there was some separate place.. I'm also on Ecademy and they have a distinct marketplace. But that's fine, I get the whole idea of hanging out, taking part, offering help etc.

Sam, you would hope that what you post makes sense, or makes someone laugh, and out of mere curiosity, they go and click on your link and viola, you have a fan!

I do know that the blatant full on this is me and what I do type of thing outside of the Intro forum, is frowned upon and penalised.

Thanks, Gillie. I will work on being funny and/or interesting. I got the message now ;-)

Mr Mu,

If you have a press release you could post that in the relevant section. This would give users a clear understanding of what you do and a press release is a promotional tool.

Hope this helps.
