Good Afternoon UKBF Members!

We are a company that helps to implement Warehouse Management solutions - from the software through to the hardware - label printers, PDA's etc.

We currently outsource the software requirements to a company we have worked with for a couple of years now, but looking for a company that can develop a WMS of our own. Does anyone on here have anyone they know of, or have worked with who can develop something like this with ourselves?

I look forward to hearing from you

There is always a difficulty with substantial projects which is if there is a lot of effort required in the sales process and there is no guaranteed outcome then I personally would not get involved.

In essence it appears that you wish to set up as an SaaS provider. Not a bad idea, but I am not sure it is a easy thing to manage unless you have someone with really solid technical knowledge on board.

We do also tend to avoid having calls to discuss ideas like this as it's just far too common that the company requesting the call has no idea how expensive a project like this could be and they want to bounce their ideas off experienced professionals in the very preliminary stages.

What we *would* take seriously is a request from a company that has provided us with a detailed written spec in Word or PDF format by email initially, hasn't contacted every dev company under the sun for a quote already, has an idea of budget already from their own research, has sent the Request For Quote (RFQ) to only 1-2 companies they have shortlisted at most, and is very serious about going ahead should the quote be within any rough estimates already given.

I think that is a good way of putting it. To me sounds like the OP has had a nice idea, but not really worked any further on that.
Yes, it seems that way, so we like to see commitment in terms of time and effort spend on a spec document, research in to software development pricing from different sized dev shops, and we may also ask for a token free for us to work on a spec/proposal for them.

All of those show that they're potentially serious.
