    I got a promotional offer to advertise my products via Snapchat adverts.

    To tell you the truth, I'm a total dinosaur i have no interest whatsoever in social media of any kind but hey if it gets products sold, sign me up.

    So burning question; has anyone here tried Snapchat adverts to sell goods? If so did it work and any idea of the demographic?

    I sell collectable toys, my audience is either adult collectors or adults buying for teens, so if Snapchat is just for kids with no spending power i feel it would be a bit pointless - really im after a direct ROI for my spend not a long term brand building play.

    Any thoughts anyone? Thanks in advance

    Some useful stats;

    Asked my daughter and she says she never uses it. So the poll of 1 suggests it might not be a good ROI. Collecting friends tend to scour online marketplaces and specialist forums and blogs rather than social media.

    Is that where your target market hang out ? If not or if there are better channels to invest in .... I am sure there are . - then it could well be money down the drain.

    If your target is adult buyers, then it isn't for you. Forget the data you've seen. There are some reasons it looks as if adult buyers are using it but they aren't buying anything on it.

    My stepdaughter used to use it avidly. It's primarily a teenage tool. What happens is someone takes a vid or a pic or something and then afterwards it disappears.

    So kids love it because stuff they write / photograph disappears. It's not held for the future. And Snapchat keeps them engaged by giving them a score. However, they grow out of it by about 16 or maybe 17.

    Adults use it but the primary use case for this age demographic is drug dealing, stolen goods, illicit messaging etc... because the messages disappear and you can create new profiles really easily. So if you're secreting large amounts of illicit substances in your adult toys or your toys are seriously adult, then you might have a market.

    Otherwise, from your description, you won't sell anything.

    I tried advertising for my services but I ended up spending loads of money for it to achieve zero results. Also I think there is a particular market on SnapChat, so it depends what your target market is? I think these days adverts are used everywhere online that they don't get much ROI because people are so programmed to ignore them. But that's just my experience.
