Hi all

Thank you for taking to the time to read my post. I have a few questions I would really appreciate the answers if any of you fine people have them. I would like to start holding small fun commercial events. The idea is basically to hire community halls or pub event rooms to run activities, games and competitions , customers pay to have a go at the games/activities then the best player/players at that event would win a prize T-shirt or up to a ps5. I'm not looking to go to big cities but rather smaller places. now for the questions lol
1. can I hold such event at these places ?
2. do I need any licences for these events ?
3. what type of insurance would I need ?

any answers or advice would be greatly appreciated

The answers to all three of your questions are: it depends.

What you can and can’t do depends on the venue and local legislation.

1. Depends on the place

2. Probably not (but would depend on specifics)

3. Public liability as an absolute minimum.

On the Insurance front, there are specific event insurance policies available - you can get a quote direct from Hiscox online here: Click HERE

You can adjust the quote depending on the extent of cover you are looking for. As a minimum I would suggest Public Liability cover, but you may also want to include any property or hired in equipment, Employers Liability (if you are getting help to run the event), cancellation etc.
