Shops quiet at weekends? Roads busier than ever!

I went to the 'empty' Barbers a few Saturdays ago and was told they were quiet as folk are now fitting mundane tasks like haircuts into their Monday to Friday working from home routine.
Today a courier who'd finished his drops had a couple of hours to kill before his first collection, so was off to do his grocery shopping.
Tonight in B&Q at 6pm, there were twice as many staff as customers, one till open, I was second in the queue.

In contrast, the roads round here appear to be much busier during weekdays at off peak times.

Have the homeworkers exchanged the daily commute leaving home at 6am to start work at 9, for an early start in the home office so they can clog up the roads later in the day?

I was thinking the same, I live in Somerset near the M5 and the traffic has been insane lately. Always at really odd times. I do have to say since the fuel 'crisis' it's all changed again. Roads are back to normal now.

You don't think the traffic on the M5 was caused by all the stay at home vacationers (kids are now back at school) I was down in Cornwall a few weeks back and the normal five and a half hour trip back took twelve and a half the worst journey from there ever for me. When I hit the M4 there was a seventeen mile jam going in the opposite direction was insane

Same trends here in the North East

A couple of weeks ago I was heading to Tesco and the traffic was horrendous. Eventually got near the Tesco car park and was told by a warden that there was around a 2-3 hour wait to get back out of the car park because of the traffic around the area. It was only 3pm in the afternoon

Roads are much quieter round here currently, due to lack of fuel!
