setting up a direct debit payment system for my clients

For some time I have been pondering on a payment system for some clients,
I have just finished a contract in restoration & had priced to restore 2 staircores in the building.
Unfortunately there funds have now been used in the completion of the property they have restored.
The client wants the works done but as this is a six forum free school they have no funds.

My question is can I set up a direct debit payment system so they can pay monthly?
I believe that my bank will refuse as I`m not at the £10 million turn over point.( will contact them today and ask)
Is their other alternatives we could use and are theses at a cost?

If you are goimg to be receiving a fixed sum each month a standing orrder is much simpler to set up. Just get the customer to sign a form agreeing to pay the sum to your account on a set date.

GoCardless allows you to collect direct debits from your clients by having them signup online. No need to involve your bank and fees are 1% (capped at £2 per payment).
