Ok hi all. New to this forum and look forward to you all helping me and learning what is needed for my business to be successful.

Right I currently have a full time job and paid PAYE and I will be contacting HMRC to set-up as a sole trader self employed while keeping my full time job.

I am planning on setting up a security business around my area for the higher end of security contacts as I have a close protection badge (bodyguard).

1: I will be setting up as a sole trader with my business name x -y security Soloutions (not really my name). Just to confirm do I have to put my full name joe blogs on all material that I have or send out?
2: can I call myself a director on business cards of the company x-y?
3: on the website do I have to have x-y security Soloutions T/A joe blogs at the bottom of the website small print or is it best to add it in to the ABOUT US page?
4: some of my jobs will need me taking on self employed security personal, on them sending me there invoice for 10hrs work at £10.00 P/H, do I pay them £100.00 into there bank as long as they have added 'they are responsible for the own tax and NI' on there invoice to me? (Will keep everything filed and stamped with dates etc).
5: what sort of liberality insurance do I need for my company?

So below is a list I have made to help me get my set-up

Register sole trader with HMRC
Make company logo
Open bank account which accepts joe blogs and x-y security Soloutions
Make website with domain and email address
Liberality insurance
Business cards / letterheads
Look at my car insurance (this is another topic itself)

Sorry for the huge amount of questions and hope you can help in some way

1. If you use a trading name your own name must be mentioned on your material

2. The term director has no legal standing as a description so you can use it. People may think your business is a limited company though.

4. Will the security staff work for other people? If you are the only person they work for HMRC may come after you to for tax and NI.

5. You will need public liability insurance, plus possibly employers liability.

Ok thanks
Yes the guys will be working other jobs with other companies, so that's fine.

Could it be a bad thing if people think I'm limited? Just thinking for the business cards having my name plus director or could I use owner than name?

Will cost more in accountancy fees but will give you protection in the form of limited liability.
