I'm just after a rough figure, I'm wanting to improve my website in google, i have done everything I can think of, so probably time I got a pro to do it for me.

The terms I would target aren't very big, most of them under 100,000 results on google. It's mainly web design (town name), (town) webdesign etc. I'm guessing I would be looking at max of 15 keywords.

What would I pay for this? I would probably prefer a monthly cost.

Thanks,

p.s. NO Pm's offering me your services,

£4,000 - for fully optimising your website.

I'm not an seo'er, I hand it over to someone else, when someone asks for it

Cos i offer it, doesn't mean I do it ... I'm currently rebuilding my website and that's being removed

Have you asked the person you hand it over to, to help with the SEO?

If you are redesigning the site then now is the time to get the SEO sorted before you come up with the design that you want.

You are looking at local listings, so do you have a Google Busniess/Map Listing that is active?

Hi Gareth,

I'd strongly suggest that before you go starting an SEO campaign you concentrate on sorting out your website.

I think it definitely needs improving. The web design market is very competitive and IMHO your site needs a bit of work on it.

Invest in your website and then any marketing budget you invest will bring you a bigger return and more inquiries, otherwise you'll get traffic and few conversions.

thanks,
Michael.

Ok the client is to blame (you never advised him):(

So what the excuse for your website. Early xmas party.

Course I advised him, but you can only advise. I am not going to tell them they need a different design for each site. Customer is always right and all that crap.

My site isn't the best looking but it does it's job. It's outdated and i'm redesigning it. I have seen far far far worse sites from "web designers", (here) mine does it's job at the moment (get a couple of conversions).

I only asked about seo, not about what my clients sites do, blah blah blah.
My clients sites do quite well, he gets a few conversions from them.

Seo professionals are paid for that, to advise on seo.

After seeing that website I need to lie down. Sorry but you win. You have successfully found a website worse than you,

worse of all, he is charging more than I would charge :p

Read http://www.webdesignerforum.co.uk/topic/28469-johns-website-design/ (web designers attacking his site etc).

I am going to take your comment as a compliment (even tho it isn't).

There is a saying tho ... i get reminded of it quite often.

"If you don't have anything decent to say, don't say it at all"

Gettiong back to the OP. The answer is depends on 101 factors.

The biggest two are ambition and marketplace.

If you want number 1 for car insurance its going to cost you £20,000 per month for 12 months.

If you want to be found for you company name you should be able to do it yourself, so for free.

In your case for 'web desig' cirecester' id guess a one of free of 250 -500 would do it. That is onpage optiomisation and a blast of cheap links.

Just a quick 'heads up' guys. The OP is enquiring about a price for seo and 'not' a site critique. If the off topic posts continue then the thread will be pruned accordingly.

Thanks for your understanding :)

Agree, some people on this forum need to stop being so bloody rude too. Grow up guys, this ain't the playground

I soooooooo agree with you here! I am a little angry at some of these posts. I would suggest that those who have had a nice little dig at the OP spend some time looking at their own coding first before criticising others.

Would just like to say that I replied to this post initially in the way that I did because it felt like a fishing exercise. The OP has SEO services on their web site - I personally thought that if you are offering SEO services whether it be yourself or from an associate you would know what your associate charges.

I gave the OP some practical advice re google map listings etc which he could optimise further without worrying too much about SEOing their own site initially.

A price from me as a start off fee would be £300 - £500 - that would just be onsite optimisation - no bells and whistles. Although results numbers may look low it's the competition you need to look at.

I would recommend however that you research SEO further and try some other techniques and do a lot more research on your keywords - this will help you with designing your clients sites too and keep the SEO factor in mind when doing so.

Tin runs an SEO workshop which may be a huge benefit to you.

I like to point out that my website is up todate and it does the job as well (johnswebsitedesigns ) and my site is the way I want it to look and that deos not say that other website that are built by the business are going to look like the business site. thank you and good day :D

I'm not going in for tit for tat, so have ignored the posts I think weren't on topic. I spent last night reading some of the other seo threads and will be using the advice to see what results I can get.

I saw Tin's workshop but unfortunately can't get down to devon, but it does seem a good idea.

I mention SEO on my website as a service that we don't provide but we intend to in the future and my clients have had massive success on Google because of what we've done.

I think you need to be really careful who you trust to do SEO work for you and I do not believe anyone can guarantee SEO results.
