Five-step SEO Plan for Higher Search Rankings in 2019
Same in 2015, 2016, 2017 and still will be in 2020

Except #1 - SEO can be incredibly complex. It all depends on what you want to rank for.

Adverts are not a ranking signal. They never have been and never will be. Far to easily manipulated.

As to voice search, current research shows people search differently. The commands they use are not the same as written searches. For example: ‘where is the nearest x’ or what time does y open’. Voice search isn’t used for data searches. For example ‘side effects of x drug’ or ‘what’s the best way to plant a rose bush’. If you are looking for red shoes then voice search is less useful than a search for the nearest shoe store.

So if you have a site showing celebrity images voice search will be less applicable. Same if your site offers GCSE hints and tips.

So while I agree voice search is becoming more popular, it’s a different type of query and your approach to optimisation needs to adapt.

Agreed to whatever you wrote and thanks for explaining, but what I fail to understand is why one shouldn't advertise on high ranking/popular sites? I mean they have the traffic, they have readers and many people scrolling & strolling through their site. I know that the conversion is not much but still as a one time investment, would it be not fruitful?

I didn't say don't advertise. I just said adverts were not a ranking signal.

And it's not about advertising on a high ranking or popular site, you need to advertise where your target customer is looking.

1. Quality Content
2. Quality Link-Building
3. Guest Posts
4. Optimized Images
5. Quality Original Video
In other words, you are saying to do the same things people have been doing for years. And discovering most of them are ineffective.

I was focused on content quality and link building this year, and so far those two strategies have done me really well. I suppose in 2020 I will continue pursuing them and add something new to change things up a little.

Do what's good for you, i have no facebook, no instagram but a few twitters which gather around 3m in total impressions a month, i got zero compared from facebook/instagram so i closed that rubbish down.

so we don't need to stick to seo laws etc nowadays for clicks, for me anyways.

So do what's good for you i guess.

I think SEO in 2019 is same as what it was
SEO has been evolving for years but the core techniques work the way that always have. And backlinks do help improve ranking. They just need to be the right sort of backlinks. No need to cheat, you just need to do it properly.
in 2018. There's nothing changed, great content is loved by both people and search engines.

What is your SEO strategy for 2019? I will focus on improving mobile version of my website, website speed, voice search and friendly design for deaf or hard-of-hearing viewers. Also I continue to promote my Youtube channel, because videos gave me a lot of traffic and conversions in 2018.
Let's share some tips.

My focus for this year is to do skyscraper technique.

Skyscraper technique still works.
Indeed, but it's not new. It's just one of many techniques that you can still use in 2019.

These all sound like good points to me (we do SEO).

At the risk of sounding obvious, I would add monitor and improve your organic rankings and possibly also rank in google maps. In general, increase targeted traffic to your site, that is one of the main goals in SEO.

@onebasemedia, these thends aren't new. They have been happening for many years.

Voice search keeps cropping up and needs to be put in perspective. I doubt you are going to get many people telling Alexa to find an seo service. Or asking Google for someone to mange a ppc campaign. If you were a local taxi firm or dog walker then voice search might be worth thinking about. And many voice searches are people looking information rather than needing business service. There's lots of good stats on voice searches.

Skyscraper technique still works. Good call.
Concision is the key.
Don't go off-topic or follow the process blindly.
Yes, I am doing this. I have a lot of informational, well-researched, long and Quality content. But, the problem is the success rate. it's below 10% which is really frustrating. Isn't it? What's yours?

I am trying Broken link building too. It's amazing.
