SEO Freelancer or company needed

HI all.

I'm looking for an SEO company to work with me on my site. It's a very competitive industry and it's also national. Can anybody recommend anyone on here worth talking to, or is anybody intreated in providing a quote. We currently have quotes between 1k and 5k a month (most with at least a 6 month contract), but the biggest problem is we have no idea who to trust so recommendations would be great. I've not been on the forum long enough to know who the best SEOs here are, but I can guarantee that some of the old heads can give you a list of chancers to avoid!

what is it you want to rank for? I'd strongly recommend not paying that much money for any seo until you understand the basics yourself. You're going to get bombarded with pms of people telling you they'll conduct manual outreach and write you some super special blog posts that google will get excited over and you won't rank anywhere. You'll get better value for money if you draw the money out the bank, burn it and use it to save you 1 penny for heating over the winter than buying seo from 95% of this forum

Ha. Yeah this does seem to be the problem! We need someone to take this on as it is a big project. But agencies promise the world want to tie you in for at least 6 months and charge a fortune. Would we be better to employ someone? We need to rank for wedding bands/entertainment and the many variations that go with it. I can't find anyone that says we used these guys, they are good and it worked for us. Which worries me.
